Default 120vac to 12vdc

Guys I have been shopping around for power converters and found one online that will take 120vac and turn it into 13.1vdc and supplies 45amps.......which should be sufficiant to run my stereo and LEDs.........question is.........do I just hook the + from it to the battery + cable, and the - to the battery - cable ....................withthe battery completely out of the loop....as I do not need to charge the battery........will this work or is there something else I need to use.......I do not want to smoke my car.........hwat brands or other equipment is everyone who has lights at shows using........throw me a bone here.......

disconnect the battery...

the point of needing a power supply at shows is the fact that you can't have your battery connected (indoors)
