Here are some questions for you to answer. It would help me ALOT!!

Car Enthusiast Community

1.What are the boundaries of the community? Who is considered to be part of the community?

2. Brief history of the community?

3. Who belongs to the community? Size if the community?

4. How to join the community? What activities does our community have? What do we give up or miss out on?

5. What are positive and negative features of the community? What do, us members gain? DO we have a role in a larger population?

6. What is our relationship to other communities if any?

7. What future do you see with this community? are there any threats to this community?

Sorry, I know this would be a hassle to answer all, BUT it would be very helpful! Just answer as much as you guys can. But remember, PUT the number of the question your answering beside your answers. Thanks guys! After this project, ill be on more often ! ^_^

Quick link to some pics you can use if you find any you like: http://www.flickr.com/photos/uuv_one...7600322659804/ (Check the Pizza Run II and St. Helens cruise, especially.)

1. Boundaries: Anyone who's immediate family owns or owned a Scion.

2. Scion as a brand first came on the scene very late 2003 with the 2004 models. Since the first few sold, owners have flocked together to share their thoughts, ideas, and modifications of their vehicles, and to help each other in many ways.

ScionLife.com is one of the many on-line extensions of this, and possibly the largest with around 80,000 members.

3. As mentioned in #1, Scion family members are all Scion family. The Scion community population I really don't know, but is limited by the number of Scions on the road - a limited number. ACTIVE members of the community is of course much smaller, but still an amazing percentage of owners.

4. How to join? Buy a Scion. That's the only requirement. Find any of the Scion sites on-line and say hi. You are part of the family and welcome.

We have scheduled meet and greet events all over the country, spontaneous events, likewise, cruises, pizza runs, BBQs, parties, install days, potlucks, and much more. Some are sponsored by dealers or by Scion itself, many are sponsored by Scion car clubs, some are just "family gatherings" of Scion folks.

Scion also has large events in several parts of the country every year that are sponsored by Scion in large venues, etc.

Last time Scion introduced new models they flew over 300 current Scion owners to Miami and put them up for a couple days at a fine Miami Beach hotel - Loews - (winners chosen via sweepstakes drawings), and wined, dined and entertained them and sneak peeked the new models in person well before their public introduction. We still talk about that.

I don't believe we miss out on anything being a member of the Scion community. We don't have to "give up" anything to be a member other than a little of our time.

5. Scion community membership is essentially all pluses. As in any community there will be people who one doesn't agree with, but overall the membership is self-chosen, and those who don't wish to belong don't.

We gain many things. Good friends, happy times, shared sorrows when needed, answers to questions about our cars and much more, physical help with modifications, repairs, moving, etc. We also have a feeling of membership, almost kinship, with other Scion owners. Some even wave at each other when they pass, just because they are in Scions. :D

Do we have a role in the larger population? Of course we do. The community has a sense of pride in helping others and it extends outside the Scion community with food drives and other events to help others, and I feel that we also learn to BE more open and giving in general from our experience inside the Scion communities. It shows itself in little things we do for others on a 'pay it forward' basis on a personal level, and at least a part of that is learned, or at least reinforced, via the Scion communities.

Another great plus is we all have cars that start out as well put together, reliable machines. Probably some of the most reliable and maintainable cars on the planet.

6. We associate with some other car communities, most notably with the fellow travelers in other Toyota products, and even have some joint events.

7. Great future if we work for it, the biggest threat is probably from the economy limiting what the members, dealerships and the company can afford to do. Another threat would be poor decisions made in the introduction of new Scion models. If new Scions lose their appeal to the sort of folks the first models appealed to, that could seriously affect the continued growth.

Even at that, the original models will always have a specialized following, and will always form the core of a community.

Hope these quick answers help a little.

c'mon, Kekai, I must have made SOME mistake in there, or left something important out, or something. Add something.
