Just a note for ya, Jenn: If you folks coming up from further south arrive early in Tacoma (I.E. before 9AM) you have a choice: Just sitting at the meet-up spot sucking on your Starbucks, OR heading down to the car wash to get an early start on trip clean-up.

In any case, if you could give me a call from somewhere near Exit 109 (Lacey, Martin Way) I might be able to hit the meet point about the same time as you.

Seriously, though, if you are very much early you might want to turn LEFT on 72nd when you get off the exit and go the 2.5 miles to the car wash instead of hanging at the meet point. If it's just a few minutes, though, the meet point would be good.

Hear from you Saturday morning, see you about 20 minutes later...

...one more detail: If anyone leaving Tacoma doesn't have a walkie-talkie, I have ONE spare that I can loan for the caravan to Seattle. First come, first served.

I have ONE I can loan as well..probably to someone in the Vancouver roll out? I was hoping to find more and working on that later today...but so far I only have one to loan. Like Tomas said...first come first serve.

So if you are rolling out of Vancouver with us....and need a walkie let me know.

This is worthy of repeating since we are so much closer to the actual event....and it was posted in the Caravan thread below...this way everyone gets the info. Thanks to Tomas and Brian for laying out the ground rules. Everyone needs to read, understand and AGREE to abide by these rules!

There WILL be other cars getting into the middle of our line. The best way to get those non-Scions OUT of the convoy is to be going just slow enough that they can't take it and pull out on their own.

Walkie-talkies: Lead and tail must remain in contact so lead knows if tail is falling behind.

ALL lane changes, exits, and other maneuvers must be called out on the walkie-talkies before they happen so everyone has a warning.

Tail will attempt to block a space in the lane the convoy is moving to so others can move into it more safely.

Everyone: Headlights On for Safety!

See you all Saturday.

Just to put it into perspective........each car has a minimum value of $20,000........25+cars all in a row........even my insurance will not cover that many cars.

It is not a race........if anyone gets separated do not panic......we have 35 miles to get it all back together again.......Cell phones.......walkie talkies......and Dear Tomas bringing up the rear....he is always the rear.......if you are behind him you are in the wrong spot.......in fact we will probably end up in at least 3 caravans all with in blocks from each other by the time we get there.

There will be people doing photos and they are usually the only ones not in the line or passing.

The Pizza run earlier this year almost had 3 smashed Scions due to a person in a 4x4 cutting us all off at the exit and then locking his brakes up.......Larry can give first hand view of that .......in fact he is still amazed he was not a bumper decoration to the guy.

Just got this email:

Hi Everyone -

We are excited that you are able to join us for our annual Scion Owner Appreciation event this Saturday, September 6th at the Seattle Mariner vs. New York Yankee Baseball game. Parking will be provided, free of charge, at the Qwest Field parking garage on 4th and Royal Broughman avenue. Enter the garage and proceed to the parking attendant where you will be met
by a Scion representative. Our representative will direct you to the top
floor (6th floor) of the parking garage where we will distribute tickets, commemorative event T-shirts and other goodies and the registration tent. We will also provide pizza and beverages from 4:00pm - 6:00pm. The weather forecast for Saturday is 71 degrees and light clouds (Weather Channel). It does get a little chilly during the game so bring a jacket to stay warm.

We look forward to meeting all of you -

Bobbi Simpson
