Checked into the Shilo Inn in Springfield, OR a little over an hour ago.

Amazingly they have free wireless internet, so I'm actually on-line.

Relatives arriving in minutes to take us to dinner, so that's all for now.

Tomas,

Hows the weather up there? I have a lot of relatives in that neck of the woods.
It was 77 degrees here today.

Happy Holidays

Nowhere near Pendleton, really - Springfield is the eastern side of Eugene...

Brought my mum down here to visit relatives - her stepdad and his new bride - over the holidays.

Not doing any ScionLife Modding while I'm on holiday.

Well, Steve, we ate lunch at that Shari's on Christmas day - just something light, a half sandwich and soup, but it was well prepared and service was excellent (gave good tip).

Had a couple of interesting 'Scion things' happen while there.

First off there was this loud little bright blue Honda Civic 2 door hatch, complete with fairings and fart can, that pulled up on the drivers side while I was waiting to turn west from Gateway in one of the two left turn lanes.

I noticed VERY animated activity in the passenger seat of the Civic, so watched as the passenger smacked the driver and started to point to various parts of the xB while running his mouth and waving his hands. He topped this off by noticing me watching and gave me a huge grin and a double 'thumbs up' and pointed to the xB. I think Vanilla had a 'fan.' :D

The other was one of my new relatives saying his business partner wanted an xB in the worst way, and was going to get one, one way or the other. My 'relative' was unfamiliar with them, other than having to listen to his partner go on and on about them, but after taking a short ride in mine on a run to the store said he now understood why the guy wanted one.

Other than that, things were uneventful, and Vanilla did fine on the trip. She had no problem romping along at speeds in the 70-80 MPH ranges for most of the 600 miles I put on her. (Did have a few people on the freeway sort of make 'loops' around me looking over the xB, but one gets used to that.)

Mileage was not as good as the last longer trip I made in her, but this time the weather and load were much worse (heavy rain, fairly cold, heavier load), and I was on 'winter gas.' I'll settle for the 31 MPG I got on the 597 mile trip (that includes maybe 90 miles of miserable around town driving in a strange town).

My MP3 "Trip CD's" worked out just fine as a highway mix, and Vanilla performed flawlessly.

"I'm baaack!"
