Two Weeks Later...
We've had our Corolla for 2 weeks now (well okay, 2 weeks, 2 days and 6 hours?).. and we just hit 1,000 miles on Hwy 20 going from Sea-Tac.
The gas mileage is improving also. Started out not as great as I'd hoped but it's getting much better.
I have decided I don't like not having a rear window wiper (got a chance to test that out with the rain this weekend, poo)..
And the car is real sensitive about having the break and clutch 100% down to start.. sometimes I gotta take my foot off the break and clutch and push them down again to start the car. Is that normal, an extra security kinda feature, or should I get that checked out?
And our windshield wipers make weird noises.. sometimes it clicks.. annoying!
But other than that (except I miss my iPod connector and the awesome sound system in the xA... and the steering wheel controls).. other than that, I love the Corolla...

i have also just bought my daughter a corolla S and noticed that the clutch really had to be all the way down to start. scared me the first time i jumped in and it didnt start. im like uhhhhhh what the heck. also noticed the way the floor mats are shaped its under the pedals. now i bug her about having a nicer car than me lol.... ok faster lol...so i think that is kinda normal her saturn was like that too. as for the wiper noise hmmmmm.

If my aftermarket floormats "creep up" in my XB it prevents the clutch pedal from being fully depressed, preventing the car from starting.
My sister bought a Corolla this year. G/F bought a Matrix last month. Nice cars. I had a '90 Corolla that went 300,000 miles.
I just bought a '86 Camry with 86,000miles on it. My hoop-dee so I don't rack up the miles in my XB. I keep thinking when I drive it is that this car was the beginning of the end for American cars. What a great ride.

the brake and clutch thing is a new safety feature that toyota started puting in some of thier models. they did the same thing on the Prius, ofcourse it doesn't have the clutch but it will not allow you to start the vehicle without your foot firmly on the brake. i wouldn't doubt toyota putting it on newer corolla and camery models...
Yeah, it makes sense. I actually have figured out it's more the brake than the clutch.. the funny thing is it's a very good thing. Some time last year I started my xA, but apparently the e-brake wasn't pulled up all the way (a friend sat on it a little when we were installing the subs).. and I was parked on a hill, so I started it, had my foot on the clutch and the brake (but obviously not enough, plus e-brake not pulled all the way) and it started rolling.. that was scary.
So it's a nice safety feature. I don't mind it now because I'm used to it.

i'll be going in and tightening the tension cables to my xB's ebrake. i don't putit into gear when i park becasue out of habbit i don't hold the clutch down long enough to realise that it's it gear and end up stalling where i'm parked like an idiot... i noticed when the xB's brakes are wet and you park on a steep uphill and use the ebrake without putting it into gear, it will slowly inch it's way every few seconds so... tension cable here i come
We get home today after a Memorial Day Weekend getaway.. and we had our plates awaiting in the mail! :D I am sad though.. I saw "WHY" on a plate while we were out of town, so I knew we weren't gonna get "WHY"....
But we got "WKR".. which is like.. wicker! Haha. That's all.
