Stick with the manufacturers specs. If the manufacturer thought so-cal weather was soooo different then other climates, I would think they would suggest different motor oil. I guess if you want to move up to synthetic, you can, but it is not required. Most vehicles that use synthetic FROM THE FACTORY are high performance vehicles, which the TC is not.

The tC was deisgned and tested in So Cal, so whatever is recommended has been extensively researched here.

I've never heard 0w-20 mentioned in the forums... yet it is mentioned in my owners manual... just wondering if anybody actually runs this?

In what context is this stated, cause I am NEVER putting 0 weight oil in my TC

For the TC 2006 and above, Toyota recommends 5w-20 or 0w-20... not sure which would be better for my weather, but i imagine i'll probably run 5w-20.

for the 07MY, it's either 5-20 or 0-20. In SoCal, I would probably use 5-20 all year round. Here in NY, winter time would probably be 0-20.
