Default FOX 11 NEWS "ALERT" !!! Please Read

Was watching the 10 o'clock fox 11 news tonight had had a report on how the CHP and all the county and city police departments are going to be cracking down on all car meets and a "O" TOLERANCE for modified cars. They were filming live at Porter Ranch at a local car meet.

With the way the economy is a lot of the police departments are hurting for money so TO ALL MY SCION BROTHERS AND SISTERS be careful out there and maybe stay on the low profile on meets and cruises.

I got pulled over the other day and he told me the exact same thing about the police departments hurting for funds. He did let me go with a warning no fix it ticket or anything.

i was at porter ranch tonight getting something to eat and saw a bunch of cars and decided to stay and check it out, as soon as i left there was cops in cars and bikes EVERYWHERE!!! left and right with cars pulled to the side with their hoods opened and people with hand cuffs watching their cars get towed. i had a cop infront of me and i needed to turn and i saw a 7-11 to the side so i parked and walked in like i was gonna get something, as soon as i saw the cops pulled someone over i jumped back in and booked it straight home. seriously car meets are getting burned out because people do burns out and act plain DUMB and it's not gonna get better for anyone and hopefully all of our scion team meets don't get burned as well. i'm probably gonna take off my header and exhaust and just put it on for shows because i got pulled over last saturday for exhaust and they checked under my hood too but i had an exhaust tickets recently fixed and the cop was like ok i'll let you go and said to me i suggest "puttting the stock exhaust back on because it's gonna get you in alot of trouble".

here is a link to the video of what was gonna go down tonight, please fellow scion owners. stay away and far away from car meets this summer because by what the officer said about impounding people's cars and throw them in jails. i won't want to hear anyone from here end up in that situation.

What I don't understand is where they get the authority to impound your car or jail you if you're not actually participating in anything.

Good thing I'm staying legal with all my parts though! :D

idk man i got pulled over last sat and they made me open my hood and the cop told me you know i can impound your car for it being modified and not carb legal, he let me go with a warning telling me that the law against modified cars was gonna get rough and to change my exhaust back to the stock one because it is what gives you away meaning that you have modified the car in a way.

Doesn't there have to be a law implemented before they can start cracking down like this? Seriously this stuff is retarded, especially if they are going out there looking to give tickets to earn revenue for their station(s).

More money to be made on modified cars yes, but they should be policing the streets instead of messing with people not doing a damned thing. :?

i think that is what is going on and all meets should be cancelled for this month because they mean business this time. seriously they rolled like you would never see a car club roll and i mean DEEP in full force pulling anything over that had an aftermarket exhaust or anything modfied from the exterior like paint/bodykits...sad to see other car enthuist get arrested just because they want to hang out with others who care the sme interest. i say stay away from every possible meet for this weekend.

Chels, i'm pretty sure you have never been to the Porter Ranch and seriously it gets burned so quick and alot of people get busted. they used to throw meets there years ago and it got burned, brought it back years later and got burned again, now it's back yet it has gotten worst for everyone who has gone there.

Oh I figure it gets taken down pretty fast since there are a LOT of idiots who show off by revving, peeling, etc. on their way out or in that ruin it for the people who don't do that.

Still, doesn't there have to be some code or law to be able to go after people not doing anything illegal? They should at least be in unmarked cars watching them till they leave, THEN get them. Seriously, if you see a cop in your vicinity you're not going to goof off (if you're smart) but if you don't, well then you know what happens.

I hope OC doesn't start cracking down like LA..

It's not so much just of having your car parked and just chill'n there its when you get in your car start it up and put it in drive that makes in illegal.

Thats why they dont just roll up on everyone when there just sittin there, they wait till people are in the act of driving a illegal modified car.

There talking about any time of the day when a copper sees a car they think is illegally modified performance or exterior wise they're gonna pull you over.

I think every county is hurting right now so no one is safe in Killa Kali right now

wow, well I guess the police state wide can change the rules anytime they like? So it's about money and not our safety? When is the line drawn between "serving people" and "serving the department". I guess it depends on how much income they are sucking in every month.

Ah well no more meets for me unless it's at a dealership maybe. Kind of sad. I know this will not stop the classic car meets from doing there thing. Hmmmm
