See what I mean, its the things we do its what gets us in trouble with the police, now there are occasional times where no matter what you do you're going to get pulled over, but I will not get into that one here, if you know what I mean lol

Yeah the bottom line is if you DONT want to be messed with by police officers DONT modify your car. For the people on Scionlife that call the cops "Pigs", you are all dumb because when someone is holding a gun to your head or someone broke into your house or something u wouldnt be calling the cops "pigs" then would you?

my understanding is anything legal is tagged carb exempt.

For the tC I believe the only 2 parts you can put on that are 50 state legal are: TRD S/C and TRD exhaust < which some people have gotten tickets for it, but have fought and won in court.

The only time I've ever had a gun pointed to my head was by a police officer because I looked "suspicious". BTW I was going to a church function, in an old plain 80's Toyota Corolla, with a suit on, looking for a parking space.

Police 'in general" as well as most of the laws about car safety are a load of crap.

wow, alot of info. so much to chime in on.
I guess I'll start with this, regarding the races that someone mentioned in compton and ontario.

I actually work as a night warhouse manager directly in front of the starting line on Manville St. in Compton. There were races ther everynight during the summer. Its nothing new, those races date back at least to the late 70's. Some old timers would show up with thier beefy american made muscle cars, theyd come in like 15 cars deep and they'd go a few time and leave peacefully. when the Tuners would show up, they came in with 100+ just to watch maybe 2 races. bumping stereos, peeling out in the parking lots peeing all over the place breaking bottles. At that time I was rolling in my 78 Z28 so I wasn't too impressed with the overall attitude of the younger tuner crowd.

The difference between the two groups was that the old timers met at the starting line. The Tuners meet up somewhere, then roll over to the spot together. How frweakin' dumb is that. What could 50+ cars rolling in the same direction on a tuesday night possibly be up to?

Bumping loud butt music. basically having no respect for their surrouinding. Now don't get me wrong, illegal street racing, is illegal street racing no matter what you are driving. But don't say its less dangerous than talking on your cell while driving, or driving while intoxicated. thats just dumb. Dangerous is dangerous, a car that loses control has no sense of judgement, it will take whomever gets in its way. besides, what is at stake? just to show who can go faster? is that really worth losing your beloved car and having it crushed just so you could say you beat another guy? Or is it worth the risk of losing your life or causing someone else to lose theirs? Its not like there isn't raceways open for this type of racing.
You all just gotta chill out with this. The cops need to do what they have to do to feed their families. If it is against the law to roll around with a fart can then so be it. Move somewhere else. I got rid of my Z28 cuz I got tired of hassling with smog laws. I could have garaged her, made her a trailer queen and just taken her to some open tracks but forget that. It was just a car, there is more important things to spend time on(in my opinion) like friends and family. Scion Kreationz has met in the Same spot, everyother Friday for almost 5 years now. We don't have those problems because we act right. I guess that why it was so funny to me when we were being blamed for burning a meet a while back, turned out it wasn't us.
Well to all my Scion Brothers and Sisters, I hope yopu guys to get caught up in the fray with the chicken **** tickets. Cuz I know the majority of us don't race and we are in it for the love of the brand and the Comradeire that comes with it.
Be Carful either way, cuz you never know when a Rustang will be racing a Slowmaro and your Scion may get caught in the middle!

Peace!

So what about the Tanabe Medallion setup, they claim under 93db. I had one on my G37 and never attracted any unwanted attention. My mod list is going to be rather short when it comes to the engine, but the Tanabe Racing Medallion was one on the list. I'm pretty sure that's carb legal, and the under 93 db has to make it ok on the sound level.

Or at least I hope.

^it's not carb legal but if you get pulled over and a ticket for it then take it to the state ref so you can get your db level checked and and it's under 96.5 then you pass and they give you a paper to take to court showing proof that your exhaust is below the state's DB and you don't have to pay at all or maybe just the $25. BUT if you where to get pulled again then you already have your copy to show the cops that your exhaust is legal as long as you haven't modified anything else to it.

the AEM intake for the 05-06 tc is carb legal, for the 2nd gen xB the TRD intake is carb legal but both come with a paper saying it's carb legal so you have to keep that paper with you at all times that way cops won't try to hassle you as much.

Are you sure, cause I looked around and did not find anything about that intake being carb legal, even the TRD one, which is an AEM re-badged is not carb legal.

yeah the tag on the AEM CAI for the 05-06 tc saids that it's carb legal, take a look at brian's car since he has the AEM from what i last remember. the xb2 has a sticker that goes on a panel where it's visable at all times that way if you where to get pulled over cops would be able to see it.

it gets worse and worse every year. im really glad i have never gotten a ticket on my tC.

i can still remember the days at glenoaks and sometimes saticoy where 50+ some odd cars would roll up at a gas station lol. i got stopped once on my 94 accord while idle. when the cops crashed the race, i didn't sped off like everyone did...bad idea because i was the one who got the hit, ticket for riding low, no front plate, exhaust, custom paint lol. besides my car was slow as hell and it was built on streetglows in and out so even if i speed off the scene i'd still be the last car. i wasn't complaining though, the ladies loved it haha...fun times. i also remembered a car burning rubber right in front of the cop...what in the world was he/she thinking. that was then, this is now and i still see peeps doing dumb ish as if the 1st fast and furious move just came out.

^ went to sprinkles near irvine recently.. friends said the cops pull people over since they have nothing better to do, literally. irvine is a real nice and clean city so the cops don't have much to do around there
