my wife's Mazda3 is built in Japan, although alot of the parts on it are stamped "FOMOCO" (Ford Motor Co). no problems with it so far, except for cheap materials. Has anyone seen the dash material of the new Mustang? The plastic is so cheap looking and feeling. i'm pretty sure the Miata and RX8 share very little with any Ford.

Mazda isn't completely ownened by Ford. Ford only owns 33% of Mazdas shares. It's mostly for the B2000 (ranger) and for Ford to use Mazda's technology. Same reason why Ford bought shares in Volvo. The RX8 is 100% Mazda, same as the Miata and the SPEED3. The 3, 6, 5, MPV, and Tribute, are basically 60% Ford/40% Mazda.

Just because a company has partial ownership of another, doesn't mean their the same. Toyota has had Subaru shares for a little while now, so does that mean the new STi/WRX is 100% Toyota? No, in fact its 0% Toyota.

Opinions are like... something else I forget now...

I like fords. I drive 2 scions but I started driving on a 73 mustang... no scion can compare to this car nor can this car compare to a scion... Then I had 3 F150's then picked up a ranger.

Id think I am going to pick up an old F150 and put a donkey lift on it and tow my Scions!

^ 73 was a great year. Too big for me, but it was the last year they actually made a Mustang. I've wanted a '69 Mach 1 for like 6 years. It's too bad they're $20-35K...

Yeah same here! the 69 is sexy car... my buddies dad just sold one for 2k!!! Not a mach though, It was ugly and didn't run but was strait and minimal rust.. it was a CA stang.

My 73 have the Cleveland powerplant with a motorhome cam and a holly quad... I scared my self when I first opened her all the way up! I was only 17... I sold it in HS due to money and smog... now smog is not a factor but I am glad she is gone.

TeeCizzle, please dont be like those honda fanboys bashing on other companies ....IMO there are so many different arguements one could come up with in why ford is better/worse than toyota. Ford does not F#$#$ suck tho....one thing everyone has to remember is, like HKSpeed said, ford makes trucks....thats what there known for.... whats there pitch line?......."BUILT FORD TOUGH"...what are the majority of commercials you see on tv of?.....ford TRUCKS(F150,F250,F350).......
No it's not about opinion. I am so sorry to brake it to you. Ford Quality is worthless compared to Toyota. It's not just in how the car is built, it's the underline business practices and attitudes form the foundation.

I wish Ford all the best of luck..... I loved my 2003 Expedition. But glad I sold it at 74k.

Design?? So the truck looks good?? hehe, but the trans on the explorers are were made with Fiberglass and banned cause with the right stress shattered.

Looking good in the outside means nothing. And sales does not = quality. In the early 90's Ford was the highest selling domestic car. Why?? Cause they had gov. contracts and every dam FBI drove a Taurus...

TeeCizzle, just to let you know if is a Mazdaspeed version of any of Mazda's vehicles or if it has a rotary engine it means that Ford never touched it.

Something to look forward to in 2010 (rolls eyes)...Daimler Chrysler and Nissan are hooking up to start producing things for each other.

Look I was not meaning to cause a huge debate and so on, It was not my intention. Birds of a feather I say. So if it's not a fun topic we should prob. just lock it up. I did not mean to make a Ford Flame thread, but dam that commercial as funny.

It's not Daimler Chrysler anymore, it's just Chrysler. I heard about this deal going down, supposed to involve Fiat and Alfa Romeo. I don't think it's enough to save Chrysler from going under, they haven't made a good product in over 30 years, no sense in keeping the struggle going.

uhm...actually...if you go out to montana and talk to the aide of my family comprised of real corn fed farming men who really use their trucks for work...they and a majority of the other men who farm think ford sucks and blows. their older trucks were aweaome, but the last generation (the 97 to 20XX) were terrible. weak engines, tranmissions, twisting their frames when they towed, breaking down, getting stuck, you name it. one of my favorite trucks they have out there is a 1977 chevy silverado. that thing runs fantastically, and it has worked every day of its life.

So is Chrysler and I am assuming Dodge as well that bad? I thought they were/are better than ford big time in quality.
