Default HIT AND RUN on my xB last night

i was heading home from work and got stuck behind a bus dropping off passengers on sta monica blvd. right behind me was western street, and some crazy b1tch made a right turn into my rear bumper.

it was a soft hit, i didnt quite feel it, but i did feel the car rock a little bit. she went around me and i caught up, asked her if she did in fact hit me because i wasnt quite sure. of course she denies it, so i motion for her to pull over. i try to catch a glimpse of her front plate but it was bent to ____ and unreadable. she slows down significantly and gets behind me. i pull over just passed the onramp to the 101 freeway. at that point she made a quick right turn onto the 101, and i got boxed in by oncoming rush hour traffic. needless to say, she was gone.

i get home to see a scratch about 3-4 inches long with what looks to be a small area where the paint chipped off. its right on top of the little slot where the piece comes off, i think the towhook is whats behind there. i was so fking ____ed i couldnt sleep. i woke up ____ed, as well.

the damage is not that bad, what really gets me is that SHE FKN GOT AWAY WITH IT.

im going to try to claybar it later. do you guys think this is worth contacting my insurance over? does anyone have any experience claiming a hit and run? i just hate dealing with insurance and what not... ive had many bad experiences.

my car is less than 3 months old

not worth contacting your insurance company, one of the things they use to calculate your premium is frequency of incidents, so just do what you can to fix it and calm down.

i just washed my car and found a nice 2 inch chip from somebody that got away, but i'll live with it.

Yep. I've had 2 hit and runs as well. One was done by a red vehicle....they left some paint behind.

Sucks, I know.

Take it from me I use to work at State Farm. If the damage is less then your $500 deductible then its not worth it. Most insurance companies will even boost your premium for having to set up a claim through your insurance company even though it wasnt your fault. Theres really nothing you can do. Unless you have the persons plates then maybe you can try finding out the registered owner. But even then, its a long process.

I know how you feel man. I was just hit Monday afternoon in a parking lot at work. I was waiting for a car to pull out of his parking spot so I could park there. To my left I see some girl pull out who backs rite into my front bumper on the left side. I was honking at her early and she didn't even stop or check behind her for cars... She's very lucky she only hit the bumper and nothing else. Says her dad own's a body shop and would fix it for free. Going to make them pay for everything without going through insurance because my deductible is 1k and I would end up paying for all the damages even though it was entirely her fault.
