ummm just dont drive with them on..also if u have a good connection when you splice them. you shouldnt have issues with flickering and all that. And red a blue is a big no no to drive with because it could be a fake police car..

The problem with a “quick connect” right next to the tubes is making them weatherproof. Any mechanical electrical connection needs to be protected from the elements. To do this underneath the vehicle would require either a bulky and expensive “military/aviation” grade connector (which will still fail if not replaced periodically) or completely sealing the connector with a silicone (which would defeat the “quick” aspect, and still need to be replaced after every disconnect).

The best method I can think of is mounting your control box (where each tube plugs in) in the trunk. Run all the tube wires to the trunk where they can be plugged into the hub. Then if you want to remove the tubes in the winter (or when you need to pay a “fix-it” ticket) all you have to do is unplug them in the trunk, cut your zip-ties, and take them out. Meanwhile, all your hardwiring will still be sheltered from the weather and you won’t need to tear apart your vehicle when you need to replace or comply.

Or you could take the easy approach. Don’t have them on while you’re driving. If you feel the need to “show off” you’re vehicle, pull over and do it.

These laws are on the books for a reason, there are too many distractions on the road. People have a hard time noticing blinkers because at one point in time, people used them, and built up a resistance. If you are constantly seeing “red and blue” while driving, then eventually you’ll just think it’s a “ricer” and not pull over when it is an actual emergency vehicle.

I bought blue because it is a good looking color. I bought LEDs because they were not that much more, and don’t break as easily from winter ice (or rocks). I also bought them knowing that it was illegal to drive with them on (as it should be). I turn them on when I want people to look at my car, not when I’m speeding to work or weaving (driving around the idiots) through traffic.

“Look at my car, but don’t get distracted and run into it.”

Unless you get lubricated it will dry out in a month or so.

I'll use that next time a Cop pulls me over for blowing through a red light. "Sorry Sir, I just built up a resistance to them".

But all it takes is one tear, and months down the road you’ll be looking at some unexpected expenses....
