OKAY! Finally got a better rate out of one place here in Ames.

Microtel Inn
2216 SE 16th St
Ames, IA 50010
(515) 233-4444

We have 20 rooms blocked until April 20th. Rates as follows:
Single $55 (one queen bed)
Double $65 (two queen beds)

This is a fairly new hotel and located about a mile from the show. No commute problems. Should be a nice enough place. Also, good parking and it's out of town so vandalism shouldn't be a problem at all (like it would be in Ames, IA anyway, but you know.).

I have blocked 15 doubles and 5 singles. Call the number above and say you're with the All Scion Show. My contact was Autumn, but you don't have to talk to her.

Any questions, please give me a shout!

-Alex

Default ames camping

I'm still on the fence for camping. I'll have a pair of boxes so we can pack more crap.

I kinda miss the late night around the fire thing. It's big in the VW scene to camp in conjunction with a car show.
The trailer queens stay at hotels and go to bed early, and the daily drivers partied like rock stars at the Yogi Bear

Anyone else considering a camp ground?

We're planning on staying at the same one we camped at last year, its a county park, has electrical outlets, so if you want to bring an electric heater to keep warm... We also are getting a bigger tent, we had tent envy after seeing Rob set up his Palace last year... Maybe we can all get sites next to each other and do a campfire. I'll be camping, Thursday night, friday night and at least Saturday night, maybe even Sunday night.

The camp ground is about 20 minutes east of Ames on Highway 30, I'm hoping it will be warmer this year!

it only got down to about 37 or so on the first night, not quite freezing, the next night was better with our little heater! He the more the merrier, lets get everyone we can, the camp ground had a lot of Rv's there last year but there were still a lot of open sites, its still pretty early for camping up here, what with School still in session yet.

I don't concern myself with the temp... I think my sleeping bag is rated for -20293473 deg's, so it's all good.

I'm DEF down for camping and drinking bee...umm, soda.

No camping for me, not after that kind of drive.

Looks like I'm the only one coming from Oklahoma this year.

should we start a camping roll call? the campground we are planning on staying at is a Story count park called Hickory Grove park. has a lake and swimming and all that. Oh and if anyone is bringing an RV there are plenty of RV spots too, this campground will accommodate both.. One correction, if you want an electrical hookup on your site, its $15 per night, the Primitive camping further from the showers is $7 per night.

Like Tommy boy. drinking bee...umm, soda, and candy bars in the freezer. Yeah son, anything you want to keep cold.

No camping for me, not after that kind of drive.
Did you sign up for the Scion back stage in KC the Thursday before Ames? Works out perfect as a half way point. I'm getting a hotel that night, nice short roll in to Ames Friday morning.

Speaking of cold. I think camping is in the budget. I'll get on that sign up like last year Roy.

No, that would be an extra day off work. I'm planning on going to the OKC event.

Rob... one of my favorite movies ever. Wasn't sure anyone else would catch the reference.

I didn't actually ask for Friday off... but after seeing Alex roll into Springfield for S3 at like Midnight last year, I'll probably at least leave work early.

Alex... what's the drive time from Spfd to Ames?
