Default Tint Laws in Missouri?

I am moving to Missouri in a few days and am going to get my windows tinted before I move. What is the law on tint in MO? What happens if you get caught? Do you have to remove it or pay a fine?

I was planning on 20% all around.

Thanks,
Steve

Missouri laws are

35% for the front two windows
whatever you want in the back
eyebrow down to the line marked on most windsheilds, on xB's it about 4-6 inches down.

In springfield, I reccomend Glass Tint USA, 417-889-TINT, tell them I sent you and get 10% off.

I am up in Lake St Louis so Springfield is a journey from here. Thanks for the recommendation though.

Do they actually enforce it? What do they do if you get caught? Do they make you take it off or is it just a fine?

They can make you take it off right there, and charge you a fine.

mine are 20% on the sides, and I haven't had any problems yet. I know people around here with much darker and as long as you aren't being blatantly stupid and attracting attention to yourself, tint alone won't get you pulled over.

Darker in the front than in the back? Why do that?

the higher the % the lighter it is 5% = really dark 35+ = lighter, meaning the smaller the number the harder it is to see in

I've never had any problems so far in MO, but I work in Earth City. Now I've heard Jefferson County is a real big pain in the ****.

I've been busted by a state trooper (i'm from springfield, MO) ... fee was 135ish. If you choose to go below 35% you will have to accept the fact that someday you may get caugt and pay a fine. I've been pulled over 4 or 5 times for tint and only fined once.

Yes state laws are 35% front two and anything you like in the rear. Also brows can come down to the AS-1 line usually marked on the windshield.

I have been tinting for around 3 years and have only ever had 1 person come back complaining that he got a ticket. Most people that do get tickets get them from the Highway Patrol. Its my understanding that they are the only ones that carry the UV gun to actually be able to measure the darkness of the tint. Most local police cars dont carry them.

A large number of people come in wanting their front doors to match the factory tint in the rear, such as SUV's and trucks. To match it usually takes 15-20%. No one hardly ever comes back, but its not to say that you couldnt get a ticket.
