Default Good ODB scanner

What's a good scanner for pulling codes and interpreting them?

Thanks, I'll do some research on that one. But I was hoping to find something that gave some indication of what the code meant. As Google isn't always right there when you need to figure such out.

You still using a flip phone? More power to you. Otherwise, you can always call the dealer, or any dealer for that matter. There's been plenty of times where stuff was closed in my time zone, so I would call places in California because I knew they were still open for another hour given the time difference. You can always get an answer on what a code means.

The thing you seek is called a mechanic. They spend THOUSANDS of dollars on their scanners. If the internet isn't working for you, you got 2 choices. Take it to someone who knows what they're doing, or spend the equivalent of what the car is worth for a tool that will tell you.

What you need is called an ELM327. It is a bluetooth ODBD2 Scanner, connects to your phone, and reads live data, as well as can read and clear codes.
Vgate ELM327 Bluetooth Scan Tool OBD2 OBDII Scanner for TORQUE APP ANDROID : Amazon.com : Automotive Vgate ELM327 Bluetooth Scan Tool OBD2 OBDII Scanner for TORQUE APP ANDROID : Amazon.com : Automotive
It works with my android phone, and worked with every car I used it on when I worked as a tech. Under 15 dollars SHIPPED.

You're welcome.

He has a flip phone remember? He doesn't have "Google at his fingertips" as we found out.

And I can garuntee that all it does is pull the codes. OP is looking for something that will do the investigative work for him.

Like, diagnostic work? lol. That's what a mechanic / forums and some tools are for.

The item I linked pulls codes as well as gives you the code meanings. It also (based on car) has live data, such as RPM,boost,load,mpg,O2 readings, speed, throttle position, etc.

That's what my scanguage does. I offered that as a solution in the first reply. OP wants something that will tell him exactly whats wrong and what to do to fix it, a mechanic.
