Official Scion FR-S Discussion Thread
Ah. In my region it comes out to a $1280 difference. Still with standard navigation, alcantara seats, better looking dash and HVAC, and standard HIDs it seems like a bargain to me. And the BRZ has the LEDs in the headlights. The JDM 86 headlights with the LEDs are $1100 per side according to ft86club.
I agree that greater MSRP for the Subie is worth the difference because of the features mentioned but I don't think I want to "trade" that for the support of the Toyota dealer network.
(and gjp***, get real; you very well may be able to haggle with a Suburu dealer but not in the near future on a BRZ)

the way the subi guys talk, they make it sound like dealerships hack thousands off the price like nothing if you just wink and smile.
Have anyone heard of this happening at any of the Toyota/Scion dealers?
Because of my new job and the restricted salary for the first 12 weeks I will not be able to afford a BRZ at this time. On April 30th I put a downpayment for a BRZ at Bertera Subie of Hartford and made sure it was written on their copy and mine "Deposit refundable."
So today they called. They asked if I could pick it up Saturday. I let them know things haven't changed with work and I need to come in for a refund on my credit card.
They told me they would not do that. They are bullying me on the phone telling me my only option is to buy the BRZ or they will use my $1000 towards a car in the future when I'm ready. I told them my paperwork clearly shows that it is refunable. And they said "Yeah refundable by a $1000 certificate you can use next time you pick up your car."
They wouldn't even act professionally. They told me this with anger. They would not listen to me even though I told them what the law states and told them in their own handwriting it says refundable.
I think they are assuming I'll take the hit because I don't want to hire a lawyer and I won't want to do business with them again so I'll let them keep the $1000. Well let's just say I have a couple lawyers on it now.
I wish I had checked out their Better Business Bureau rating and ratings on google before going there. They are notorious for this and hidden fees which is crazy considering they're the #3 largest Subie dealer in NE. I was so excited to put a downpayment on the car that I felt I needed to rush ASAP so I could get one earlier in the year. Well there's plenty in my area. I won't make that mistake again.
Just a heads up.

Today, I was on the phone with a friend in Japan who is one that is head over heels about the GT86. While Subaru and Toyota information leeks have stopped...... for now...
There has been some idle talk in the JP BRZ/86 community about the upcoming models. (Remember these are only predictions and rumors from the land of the rising sun)
1 of which is the changes that are being made to the FA20...particularly FA201.
+Some have been concerned about the mid range dip found on the BRZ torqeband, spawning many different theories with no real conclusive explanation. Intake acoustics have been found to have the greatest effect on this...
Subaru's solution for next year is to adopt TGV into next years model lineup.

so basically we are getting OEM ITBs...lol
+Water-cooled EGR with a collector..might also be adopted into the FA201. Although I don't really see how this is a benefit for greater emissions.

+Talks of Denso being switched out next year in favor of Hitachi DI injection drivers ECU and Hitachi injectors with a dual spray pattern.

While many of these things have already made its way into the current Legacy GT DIT Featuring a DI only FA20 Twin Scroll Turbo, I don't hear anything about the actual turbo itself being implemented into the BRZ platform. So we are still less likely to see this under our hoods from the factory.

So what can we expect? More power? No I don't believe so. but i do expect plenty of improvements in our current power band output, and economy. It is unclear if the Toyota/Scion twin will also be having next year's changes, but given their contract and also being built at the same plant...the odds are very high that Toyota/Scion will also have these changes as well.
Thoughts, Comments, and Concerns are welcome.
_____ing and moaning will not tolerated in this particular thread.
