Default "Opportunity to learn"..No Start..

I'm a computer networking engineer....not an electrician...and anything electrical is usually an "opportunity to learn"

I was working on adding extra interior lights to my 2013 iQ but having problems with getting the power to work so I just gave up and the dome light no longer works. Then, I noticed the radio wouldn't come on. Looking at the fuse box diagram, the same fuse, a 15, goes to both the dome and radio. So I figured I had blown the 15 amp fuse. Looking in the box, it only had two 15 amperes in there so I pulled both out for inspection....and, yep, one was blown. So went to the auto store to buy new ones (my spares were the normal size but need minis) Anyway, I replaced the fuses and the car wouldn't start..it's NEVER done that before....so looking at the diagram the other 15 amp goes to "injector, igniter" I had put it in the wrong slot...finally figured out where it went and fixed it....phew (And the radio is working...still gotta get those friggin new interior lights working)

So you tried to splice your extra interior lights into the dome light? Might be better to piggyback from the fuse box. Here's a jumper that makes things easier than scratching up a custom connection:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-Blade...sAAOSwAodWFJxU

This allows you to fuse both the dome/radio AND extra lights. If the amp draw of the dome/radio and extra lights exceed capacity, you might piggyback the extra lights to a circuit with only one draw (as opposed to two.)

Oh I may have to try that. The fuse box I found the burned out fuse was in the engine compartment but I believe we're supposed to have another one underneath the dash in the iQ...I'll have to get down there and look around.
