What a waste of 6 pages. This has to be the worst-run contest I can remember. To make ppl wait this long is totally unprofessional. I am glad I didn't enter this contest. I thought something was fishy when; (A) the 'promoter' of this contest wasn't a site sponsor and (B) he kept spamming on SL about this so-called contest. I feel for you guys/gals that are running out of patience.

Maybe if he does this contest again next year, it will be properly organized and date lines will be met.

 

I find it amazing that so many people are complaining about a free contest. Are some of your lives so empty, that upon taking a few minutes to submit some pictures, all you have to do is sit around and wait for results? To fall back to a crude but accurate term, "sh*t happens". Everyone should be happy that companies even hold free contests like this.

 

1. Danny and Beyond Marketing coordinate all of the Scion National booths for the Hot Import Nights Tours.. nothing fishy about he, or his company.

2. The contest is free. Cut the guy a break, he's not taking money from you. Maybe if we had all paid 50 bucks to enter, then it would warrant a discussion.

3. You didnt enter, yet you feel the need to complain. Do you feel a need to "voice of the people"... because if thats the case, Im sure most people have a little more patience and understanding then yourself.

 

It doesn't matter if it is free or not. He said that winners would be announced "this week" and that was a couple of weeks ago.

I go to free car shows all the time. If you showed up and the judges took several weeks to make decisions on winners, I doubt you would be very happy.

The fact is, he built up this contest, got what he wanted, and now is dragging his feet to give anything back. He gave his e-mail and said to contact him with any questions, yet he still hasn't responded to mine that I sent over a week ago.

It is very unprofessional, despite being "free".

 

Well, I would consider a car show which requires a physical presence/gas/etc to get there different then a completely online based contest which only requires a few minutes of time. There have been plenty of car shows that have been like that anyways, NOPI for example where several people never got trophies, and that was a paid show. Also, how many car shows have you seen with 750 entrants and only 1-2 judges?

 

Exactly, a smart planner wouldn't have done that. They would have got more help because of the anticipated number of entrants. Plus, they made promises and have kept dragging it on and on. I am just saying it could have been done much better.

 

chill out everyone, good things come to those who wait.....everyone just stop and lets wait until the results come out then you can complain about the event all you want .... just lets wait...

 

ok just wanna say remember the Miami trip was "free" too...just remember possibly taxes you'll have to pay...I remember hearing about that back for the Miami event....sorta makes me wonder if the complainers are the same ones that go to shows and cry cause they didn't win.....stop your whining....yeah it sucks he said one thing and situations arose that prevented that but comeon are you guys that perfect....I think not....like "Sir Kiss Up" said give it time and see who wins....then complain cause WE ALL KNOW that there will be plenty of ***** the Whiners here.......

I am not whining. I don't expect to win in this contest nor to I expect to win at any show I go to. I go to shows to hang out with people and have fun, not for the trophies. I have always said that. I don't care if I win or not.

What does get me is that he said one thing and is doing another. If he wasn't going to get the winners announced within a week, he shouldn't have said that, free contest or not. Also, the rules state that a TEAM of judges will be judging the cars, not one person.

I just want to know who won so I can congratulate any fellow club members that get awards.

maybe he just got overwelmed?? No sence im making a big sticnk, thats not gonna get it done faster. Personally, if you didnt enter, dont say anything, its like voting, dont complain about the president if you didnt vote. Maybe he had teams for voting, but somthing fell through, happens all the time. But ill admit, if hes not answering emails, thats a bit crappy.

 

Obviously you don't know me. I'm probably one of the most patient persons on the planet. I can cut the guy a break (say a week at the most.), but to post that awards will be given going on ALMOST 3 WEEKS ago is not professional at all. (Free or fee-based.) That's bad business. Also; to not post why or what is causing the delay is even worse. People feel cheated. Not everybody like you knows this guy. I'm sure he's a hell of guy, but his PLANNING and ORGANIZING skills need some work. I just wanted to see who won and all I found was 6 pages of brown-nosing and complaints.

Hyghgynx, he's one guy judging 500+ cars. Give him a break and move on. He's only human.

 

^^ Oh I've definitely moved on. If somebody calls me out, I do feel obligated to defend myself though.
