Official 2011 Scion tC Thread (2nd gen)
Went to RSVP show in Chicago.
Turns out if you hang around several hours later; you found out that Toyota reps were opening up to tell you some secrets.
Like they said Five Axis tC: They are hoping to do producing certain amount of numbers. I know you're thinking "Oh Gen 2 RS 1"...No, Like a Five Axis edition.
Someone there also made the same comment about "No space for T/C." The same rep who stated about the Five Axis also proudly admitted "Oh there's space!" Remember, companies do have engineers so the engineers WILL find a way.
If you look on edmunds.com and look at '11 tC. You will see the price tag is at $18,800. There's probably ways to get it at 25k.
I'll tell you the truth at first I hated it. Spending four hours in a warehouse in the middle of Chicago with production tC & Five Axis tC staring at you- I'm seriously going to try & buy one this December!
I just found this info about FT-86

I was wondering if any Scion tC's, both 2010 and 2011 are part of Toyota's Recall? Of course, Toyota hasn't said anything but i was wondering if any of you Scion owners had any problems with gas pedals, VSC, etc..as i will soon be a 2011 tC owner. Thanks guys!
obviously, since the 2011s aren't out, they would already have "repairs" done to them to fix anything affected by any recalls current or future till they start to ship.
the previous tC doesn't have any issues with VSC (since it has none) or gas pedals (tC has different ones) and whatever else currently known...

we bought a Prius. there have been no problems with it at all or my xD. But the xD is Daihatsu. i still believe the gas pedal thing is a hoax to bring Toyota down honestly. there have been NO reports in tha Chicago area at all. so i find it hard to believe this is legit. and the first issue was a Lexus, which is said to have no issues. so figure that one out.
just remember, the tC is not out there to lure those Civic Si buyers. this car competes with an Eclipse. low performance, big and heavy. Honestly, many complain about the price, but it's still cheaper than a Corolla S and it has the xD engine. if anything, it should be more money since it's a two door sports car. around $25-30 starting. So it's still a bargain. you're not going to Chevy to buy a Cobalt SS for less than a 4door Cobalt ls are you?

I'm not sure if it's those rear quarter windows or what, but the new TC looks very "boxy" to me...
I like the six speed transmission aspect of it, and the new gauges. But the rest of the interior, especially the center console, is absolutely abhorrent. Also that steering wheel, bleh.

I am all for the exterior update ; it looks a bit unusual but that is precisely the point. There are way too many virtually identical-looking cars in the market.
The INTERIOR is a disaster though. The steering wheel and gauges are cool but everything else is just hideous, dated (1990's) and in bad-taste. Who signed off on those seat cover patterns? None of the LEDs match in either color, size or anything (compare the console, the time/seat-belt-air-bag LEDs with the radio or console). They are not even the same color! One is orange, another is blue/silver and the other is red. They have completely ruined the interior of this car.
I've been holding off the purchase of the tC and now feel stuck between two undesirable options: a less secure, slower and a tired 6-year old exterior design but with a beautiful interior vs. a more secure, faster but with a HORRIBLE interior.

Seriously though. I feel the same way as you. I dont mind the exterior. IT's not the freshest thing i've seen but something about it is reminiscent of luxury cars. But the interior to me could have been saved with an updated waterfall dash. Instead theres awkward gaps and a lack of fluid design and yes, the design on the seats is a little early 90's. Maybe scion has alot of fancy interior upgrades and deliberately made the interior lackluster?
I've been holding out for the 2011 tC but the more I think about it, the more a super low mileage 2009 Si might be more car for an equal buck.
No question we are not alone on this MacGruber18!
I would definitely buy the 2011 tC if it weren't for that console. The seat covers are a bad joke as well but one can "cover them" with some after-market crap. The console and those ***** cannot be saved. Aghh!!
I am starting to consider other types of vehicles (Nissan Rogue or perhaps a Prius) given the option of tC 2010 or tC 2011. What a disappointment this 2011 interior has turned out to be!

It's not a bad replacement to the tC. It was bound to happen. With a mild drop, some tint, blacked out tails, am rims, it's gonna fit in fine with the rest of the scions.
My only 2 improvements, @ a 2.5L displacement, they could've gotten 200hp from the factory or stick a 4GR-FSE motor in there. The other improvement, keep it under 3k lbs. That is all.
Scion will continue to target, and be popular with the upcoming generation. That has been their goal since day one.

shoot, 200hp was achievable from the 2.4 with high compression. so it would be even easier with a 2.5l. I really think the dash is fine. all the heater controlls match, but 1 of the four airvents do not match and that eats me up. I can't stand it actually. honestly, who let that fly?
I know yours is a year older so it might be a little different, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
Go see the dealership and talk to the person who sold you your 08. I bought mine brand new in june of 09 (2009 Model), and i spoke to the guy who sold me mine when i went to get my car serviced at 10,000. He said that depending how much my car is worth at the time when the 2011 drops, and how much i have payed off on the loan....i could trade mine in and get the new one, and pay less than what im paying now, or pay the same or pay a little bit more.
