I think I rather payoff mine & fork my first year's "no car payment" savings for down payment like used IS-F. That way I can keep the tC & drive it during winter. By then, FT-86 should be out (after today, we HOPE ) so who knows.

Okay, so let's go thru all their big reveals.
6-Speed. Could be good, could be bad, it all depends on the gearing.
Flat bottomed steering wheel. Could have been good if it wasn't so cheap and plastic looking. It looks like it used to be a circle and someone dropped it.
Bigger seat bolsters. Those seats look pathetic.
2.5L 180HP Engine. Big plus, but only they can keep the weight under 3,000lbs.
Sunroof. K? They took the already existing sunroof and made it worse.
HVAC controls from a Yaris. Why? Seriously, why? The tC HVAC controls were by far, the best non-automatic climate controls ever. The only way these Yaris controls would be good, is if it were auto-a/c, like the Impreza...but it's not.
8 Speakers. Would have been good if they spread the speakers out around the car, and didn't put 6/8 of them in the front doors.

The only things I'm liking, are the headlights (ripoff of Accord Coupe), the headrests (ripoff of Gen Coupe) and the location of the USB input.

It's not bad IMO. Bloodshot edition is awesome. But I think it's time to look into a Subaru or GTI in terms of an upgrade. My two cents.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TMS - - 0XX - - 10
ALL-NEW 2011 SCION tC RECEIVES FIVE AXIS MAKEOVER
FOR 2010 NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW
NEW YORK (March 31, 2010) – Scion today unveiled a Five Axis customized edition of the all-new 2011 Scion tC at the 2010 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). The special Five Axis Scion demonstrates one of the many ways in which the all-new tC can be customized with internal and aftermarket accessories.
The Five Axis tC carries a high–performance, racing theme with the installation of a four-inch wide-body conversion and a unique House of Color custom formulated exterior paint that is appropriately named, Bloodshot. Performance was enhanced with the installation of a Tein adjustable coil-over suspension, a TRD custom Big Brake kit, and 20-inch Yokahama Advan Sport tires mounted onto five AD R5:F wheels.
The interior complements the exterior performance and look with unique Five Axis trim and color appointments and material specifications by Zing Design. Comfort is provided with custom leather-trimmed seats with Ultrasuede® EcoDesign™ inserts. Additional interior enhancements include Chilewich floor mats, and upholstery by Little John’s Interior Concepts.
Founded in 1995 by Troy Sumitomo, Five Axis is most noted for their concept cars and high-end showcars often seen at major international auto shows and trade shows like SEMA. Their primary customers are auto manufacturers such as Toyota for whom Five Axis supports many of their internal R&D programs. Five Axis also has their own line of wheels and aftermarket products, which are designed and created using the same methods and technology to create their high-end concepts and show cars.
The Five Axis Scion tC show car will be on display throughout the 2010 NYIAS.

Honestly will you even feel the change in 19 horse power from our 161 stock to the 180 stock?

Yellow signals are annoying you but in Russia(where I live) It's a big problem to ride with Red cause all have yellow.

And what do you think about Automatik transmition? Will it be near the manual cause it's a proble to ride with manual in Moscow.

I like the new TC but the sunroof is suck... I'd like to take the Red one(R.S.) if it has a good price..

I wonder what the bolt pattern is and whether Chris Rado will jump on this project.

I think my next scion (if I recover from this let down) would be the iQ (if they fail with the ft-86).

That'll depend a lot on the weight. If all of this apparent cheapening of things saved weight I'm all for it.

All of the 1gen xB owners just let out a collective Hah! It seems the shoe is on the other foot now.

I'm mixed on the update, but at least it still resembles the original tC. It could have been a lot worse, think what Chevy did to the Impala after 1996 or the newest Ford Thunderbird. Scion could have made it a 4-door wagon.

apparent cheapening of things? no thanks. that's why i still don't like any other scion model compared to the tC, they feel much cheaper, i'm not under the impression the scion is some luxury car, but the tC was *much* better and had small things like true intermittent wipers, and cruise control and a nice HVAC system compared to the other cars..

tail lights...
holy crap.
i took a crap.
What I figure to be a successful redesign is when people who already own the car contemplate losing thousands of dollars on a trade-in just to get the new one. Think 2010 Mustang V6 numbers (almost 100 more horsepower, 50lbs lighter weight, 6sp, better fuel economy, etc)... This... This was just predictable, literally the bare minimum that they could've gotten away with without totally destroying tC sales in the US. Yes, we knew it was going to have a new engine, and sure enough they scavenge the parts bin for the new 2.5l. Yes, we knew it was probably going to have a 6sp, since literally *everyone* else offers one in this price range. Traction control is nice, but again it's something that almost everyone else already offers. I'm just let down by the fact that they really didn't go out on a limb for this.

And for anyone concerned by why they're cheapening out the materials, check out the USD vs Yen exchange rate.

Almost 15% lower than where it was when the tC came out, and 30+% from it's peak in 2007. They have to make their profits somewhere, and they're definitely trying to hold the price down as much as possible.

Agreed, but why go to 18s? That's probably another 30-40lbs added to the vehicle for no reason at all.
