The tC is hardly a monster, but it's got this stigma in spades....

The Hako takes the gen 2 xB's "trying too hard to be cool" to a whole new level. The lighting in a bottle that was the original xB is gone forever and never coming back. Toyota needs to realize this and make a car that stands on it's own merits as a "good" car and doesn't rely on unconventional styling.

You mean to tell me there is no way they can cobble together that new AE86 that everyone wants on the cheap from the parts bin? How about a new tC with less weight, more structural integrity and a six speed. I'll live with FWD and generic engine as long as it doesn't rattle and they put it on a diet.

As of now there isn't a single Scion/Toyota/Lexus model that I would consider for my next car.
IS250 man

thats an awesome car right there!

It's got too many doors and not enough horses.

Default Misinformed sales data.

If not for the long layover between models, the sales would not have declined so badly.

Secondly, when you look at the average age of owners for the different models, you can see that the xD appeals heavily to those mostly looking for inexpensive vehicles. The competition for that is stiff, now that the Versa and Fit are available in the US.

No doubt, the rise in price meant that a lot of bargain shoppers moved on to the Versa and Fit, purely on price alone. Performance of the Corolla-based engine in the xD seems to me to be something that gets passed over by the bargain shopper.

So you have to ask yourself...what do you want Scion to be? A brand that is popular and driven by lots of people, or a quirky, low-volume, experimental design leader?

And here's your reality check time: If xB2 was a bad design, then why would Toyota bring it to Japan?

the IS250 isn't a bad car. it just looks better on paper than it actually drives and it's price tag puts it up in to a very competitive part of the market. The G35 is a a better car and costs within a few grand of a comparable IS as long as you don't go nuts with the options.

It's not that it is a bad design - it is actually a good design, it's just that it is neither a small UUV (Urban Utility Vehicle / City Car) nor an xB. Under any other name it is a fine vehicle!

The Hako is an interesting design, and will attract attention and devoted fans. The fact that I may not be one of 'em doesn't actually matter.

i am feeling this concept, but if they were ever to make it, it would look nothing like this. like the t2B, the gen2 xB was built from that concept, and looked nothing like it, little things, but the t2B was way better. I, like many many other Scion owners would have loved the xB2 from Japan...

Ok, I get to ramble for a little bit...

I loved my tC(s). Everything about it was damn near my perfect car. Suited both my needs and wants. And as much as I really really want to see something relative to it continued, I don't think its possible for it to be done, just like the xB (as we're seeing) and yea .. the little bastard child xA too.

Now I am surprised to see this is what we've come up with. Can't say I like it, no matter how you photoshop it. But I agree, they're trying to bring in new customers to the Scion brand, not retaining them. They're retaining them plenty well with the cars they've got.

I also agree that Toyota is a miss with the graduation plan, Scion to Toyota to Lexus. There's just not a Toyota right now I could see myself getting into. Granted, I do like the FJ and the new Tundra, but the FJ does not at all fit a need or want for me, and the Tundra would cost me too much on the day to day to own. I think its about damn time the Corolla got a new body, but owning an xD now, I don't see why I would "upgrade" into a Corolla.

I would, however, totally rock a few Lexus', but isnt the idea for you to graduate up, not skip a level? Cus, if I'm affording a Scion yesterday, it's going to take an act of God and alot of luck to afford a Lexus tomorrow. I love the IS, the GS is nice, the RX is ok, and the LX and GX are even nice, even tho they're right there with the Tundra in my daily costs.

On the other hand ... is it just me or is basically everyone else seeing what these Scion owners want as their next cars, and showing up with everything we ask for?

The lancer for a sportier look, the eclipse went for a less traditional design, the imprezza took on a fairly attractice, more modern, hatch style, Mazda popped out with the Mazdaspeed 3 and 6, even the civic and fit are taking on that sportier look the tC owners keep looking for, instead of this box-conglomeration.
Nissan brings the GTR while we clammor for a Supra, Cube right afte rthe xB goes away, Versa when the xA is gone, redesigned the Sentra before toyota brought the new Corolla, and designed moved from G35 to G37, just to show toyota how they should have redesigned the IS. Then there's these rumors and spyshots of a smaller, shorter RWD platform, as a supposed 240 revival? And here we are asking for an AE86

And then there's everyone else's concepts they've been showing off last couple years. A seemingly direct response to what Toyota used to do that got them going.

Its really got that OMG WTF was that that just passed me?!?!!? look to it like the xB1 had. I sorta like it. If i had to get rid of my xB that would be the car I would pick.

It looks about Mini size, though... Might not be all that great a replacement for your box, ToasterBoy...

thats a bad picture to compare heigth, Jack is like 15ft in front of it, lol. but i agree it is a little shorter then the xB!.

And what is with everyone. THIS CAR WILL NOT BE THE REPLACEMENT FOR THE TC!!!

dont worry, take it in, pretend it is a fourth car, no ones favorite car is getting turned into the hako.

OK, Poor image for height comparisons.

How 'bout this one? Considering he's bent over, it seems to come up to lower chest on him...

(And actually, my favorite was already tossed in the 便器 )
