Scion Hako Revealed at NY Auto Show
I've been on the fence with this one. but after seeing CB's better pictures.... I FREAKING LOVE THIS THING... It's either love it or hate it with this car.. just like the xB1 debut.
Bring it. Two door, four door, I don't care. My RS1 will be paid off soon so I'll have a backup car in the driveway. The smaller the better (I love the Toyota iQ). Small and wide = fun to drive.
Must have:
Those rims
Great MPG's
BETTER A/C system
Extra thick windshield
Me = <3 Scion again.

Forgot to ask.. If anyone is good with photoshop? Can you RE-COLOR the car... I'd love to see it in black, white, red's, copper, blues....In boring Scion colors and some outlandish ones.

Is there a way to turbo an is-f, yea its a 13.2 1/4mile but it nearly weighs 4k so just imagine if it was lighter?!!!
Deff love the is-f, the coupe is-f shud be the next tc!!!! only it wudnt have that amazing v8!!!!
On topic: Good, maybe the hako will be under 2300 pounds, that way if they put the tc engine, itd haul ___! At 2300lbs it wud be around 14.7 1/4, according to calculations, it predicted the 15.8 1/4 mile for a 145 hp tc
it was posted (somewhere) that the Hako represents design influences for the next five years. however, next to the xB2 in the background, i don't see it. its not 'different' enough for me, just a rash of previously seen/used ideas -- a SEMA-ized concept
If they want it to represent the design influences of the next five years, they are going to need to keep all the exciting conceptish things about it, like the fogs, the headlights, the curved wraparound glass, and the mirrors, please lose the 90 degree windshiel though.
BTW Happy Birthday DJBOMBSQUAD!

Oh Thank you. I feel old now. I just love the looks. I love the 2 door. I just hope its a tc engine or a bigger one for more power. Well at this size I guess a small engine will still be fast. 2.4 maybe inline 6?
hahaha...
jalopnik.com is actually having a contest of sorts on their auto blog site.
they are looking for 'improvements' to the hako concept

here are some entries received:

In my mind it went: I hate feeling old, i just love how i look.
I know that doesnt make much sense but it was funny, wow i must be tired or somthing. lol
I am guessing the hako will be an economy car with at the largest a 1.8 liter
after all the people complaining about the new scions being big fat heavy gas guzling machines
I think the tC replacement aka the fuse will be more of the performance car in the scion line.
BTW those are really lame photoshops ^
Now that i read the rules i see they are giving bonus points for whoever uses the worst program... man the guy who used tape and scissors, and the b&W scanner to combine the hako and the tc should get that prize.
This mad me laugh

why buy the IS-F when you can get a real M3 for the same money.... Nice car, but the fake exhaust pipes kill it for me.
It's not a good thing that the rims (one offs for a concept car that will never make production) and the color are the two most popular things about this car.
The "Toyota Tokyo Design" badge is a shameless attempt to pander to the "JDM is awesome "/"I love anime" crowd. It's like they are saying, we know it's ugly...but it's from Japan! Everything in Japan is cooler than America so take our word for it....this is cool!

Length wise, i measured in foot steps ( heal to toe from center of the front wheel to the center of the rear wheel ) and the Yaris was 71/2. This Hako was just a tad over the 71/2 mark, but not quite 8. Out of the 3 current models, all are 8 measured steps. It just so happens, my xB which was sitting at the train station just minutes after i left the show, is 71/2 steps.
I think i saw on here that the wheel base is 94.something. On the brochure that Mini was handing out ... their Mini has a wheel base of 97.1 and the ZUG has a wheel base of 100.3 The Hako is actually shorter then the ZUG ... but has a wider stance. So wide that i thought for a minute " how the hell is that gonna fit in a parking space?" To this i figure that this is part of being a concept. Make it as wide as possible, but IF it reaches production it probably wont be that wide. IF it is that wide, its going to make turning at fast speeds really really fun.
OK--does this thing have an engine?? What are we looking at here--a two door replacement for the xB??? Would not seem to be a tC replacement---but that is due. 2010 or 2011? Certainly has generated a lot of interest--which is a good thing for Scion.
What is the tc 2.4? Maybe a hybrid or some diesel hybrid. Well if the car is smaller than the tc than a 1.8 would due since its lighter smaller but if its the same size maybe a improved 2.4 with better fuel efficency. If there are electric cars out there than why can't toyota do it. It won't make them money? Blahh
