Scion Hako Revealed at NY Auto Show
I was always into original VW bugs and they had 12 inch at best, flat windshields until the superbeetles. The flat ones were always better looking even though there were design, economy and size benefits of the curved beetles.
If they stick with the upright windshield there would be consequences in rock chips and cracks and I do agree with the Rod look working but only that look.
There are dynamic problems with the large front 'A' pillar and flush windows-it will cause a hugs amount of buffeting should someone crack the front windows for some fresh air.
I like the direction and should it have at least 140hp it would do very well against a mini cooper s-and give a tuner or two something to do with a Scion other than the tC.

yeah but the mini cooper s's get lame gas mileage though for being like the smallest car in the us prior to the smart. it would be sweet if they offered two engine options, performance and economical, or if they put the 1.8 in it and offered a turbo.

1st picture...Now, we have ourselves a concept! Building a better sandcastle! Like the idea of four doors but why not have an option of both. Coupe or four door? Why not give someone the choice?

Its funny IMO how at first; first 19 pgs, how everyone hated it and there was no changing their minds. Now it would appear that those who do like it or are on the fence about it now want it in a 4 door. IMO if Scion did go that way then they are not sticking to their word. Scion is about being different and making a statement. They currently offer2 four door vehicles, the xB2 and the xD. IF Scion wanted to add another like of car to their line up and build up from the 3 basic models the Hako would be it. And IMO the Hako would need to stay a coupe.
Not to mention, if you see this in person, you would understand that there is no room for a 3rd door. Not unless they make one of those 1/2 doors that suicide out ( think Saturn ). And even those have been faised out for full sized doors. If Scion were to make the Hako a 4 door then it would be the same size as the current xB2. And that kinda defeats the purpose of making half a dozen different cars.

The 4 door wouldn't be the size of the xB2, but more the size of the Materia - a few hairs smaller than the original xB - and in fact, the "Photoshop redesigns" folks keep doing to the Hako end up looking a lot like the Materia...
At least Scion is getting reaction and input from this concept car. :D

lmao ___ much?
anyone whos seen the dimensions and pictures next to people would at least chuckle at a full 4-door version. at most it could fit half doors back there and even then.

I haven't seen any written specs, but here I go.
My guess is that the Hako is about 44" (3'8") high and about 77" (6'5") long. The door being about 34" (2'10") long. If you'd cut 4" off the front door and put a 25" (2'1") wide door on the back it could be done easily.
Why would it have to be suicide? I really don't care if it were, but why do you say that is the only solution?
