shout i only paid 160 a month for my car with renters insurance and my computer insurance thrown into that as well. And i had 6 points at that time. I now have 3 points and i pay 10 bucks more with 10grand more in renters insurance my wife on the policy and a 04 ford explorer too. But it does help she has a clean record and is 5 yrs older than me. But even without that i wouldnt be paying more than 200 a month. So i like were im at insurance wise. I even may get a lil cheaper rates when i turn 24 hopefully. but the great thing is i get cheaper insurance when im deployed so that save like 100 bucks for the 3 months i will be gone. USAA FTW!!!

Well I was going to buy a 09 tc tomorrow. This has me with 2nd thoughts. It never crossed my mind that this car would bring staggering rates.

Any 28 year olds with a clean record? What do you pay?

One thing is that if you're under, (isn't it 25?) you get a high rate no matter what. You could be the best driver but the statistics say you will cost them money so they don't care. Or you could go the other way, have the car in your parents name and yours that way the insurance looks at their age instead of yours.

Why is the S2000 not on that list? Usually tops every list I've read...

My quotes were coming up to like $1400/ 6 months!

I'm 28, no tickets, accidents, claims, nothing in the last 10 years. Perfect 10 yr driving record.

I just got a Geico quote and its $640/6 months!! YAY! Maybe I can still get my tc!!!

Oh, and :middlefinger: to all you asshats who are crashing these cars and jacking the rates for everybody else!! I'm second only to Michael Schumacher and still have to pay?!?!

Okay, what was the company that you got the $1400 quote for? Geico is one of the worst insurance companies to have if you actually ever need to rely on them; that's why it's so cheap.

I pay about $700/6mos for my insurance. I'm 22, I have 9 points on my license, I've had 1 accident in the past 3 years.

I'm with State Farm. I get loads of discounts that actually make one of the best insurance companies in the nation one of the cheapest for me to have (multiple vehicle, safe driver course, etc), and I've never actually heard anything bad about State Farm from people who have them. They're going to be one of the most expensive companies without those discounts, but you definitely get what you pay for.

That's actually kind of a very generalized rule of thumb with insurance; the more they charge people for coverage, the more they're willing to help you out and cover claims and pay out. Cheaper companies like eSurance and Geico will fight you tooth and nail for accepting an insurance claim.

I don't understand what there is to fight when an incident occurs. According to the police, it's either your fault or it's not.

As for stuff like "a dump truck lost a rock and cracked the windshield" it should be covered in black and white in your policy. What is there to dispute I wonder?

Ha. You've never had to file an insurance claim, have you? Why do you think insurance companies have such a cut-throat and ruthless reputation? Depending on how money-mongering they actually are, they will find any, and I mean any, reason to not cover your specific incident.

Ha!! I remember when I first got mine back in '04, it was so new they didn't even have any record of it, so it got the same rate as a Camry. The cost to me was within a couple bucks of my 1995 Cherokee, so I figure that was a good tradeoff. Ahhhhh, those were the days...

Now even with the "high rates" for the tC, I'm still within $20 / six months of my wife's 2000 Focus, and she has a cleaner driving record than me. No clue how that works out.
