dark headlights look cool. and as far as bCherry's chop, The new xB's WILL look like that as companies's will want their name on it as they mod them. So laugh now and we'll laugh at you when they actually look like that. I will remember this
Well the local inventory mgr at the dealership I purchased my xB let me have his only copy of the 2008 model flyer he got in Chicago.
They are both nice looking. Mom already has put a deposit on the teal (early I know).

Well, I think the design will grow on everyone, but why in the heck did they put in the 2.4L?? I vote for the 1.8L... 23 more hp would have been just fine. Also, with the new epa mileage ratings going into effect next year, don't be shocked if you see a 5 -7 mpg drop.
DAMN!!! I would seriuously like one of these babies. I heard so much crap when the first xB came out tht people hated them. Even i was one that didnt really like the STOCK xB, but when i went to a couple of shows and body kits came out for them i was amazed what this platform could bring to the table. I like this one even better. I see a VERY WIDE range of Mods going into this baby, including since they have a 2.4 you will be seeing turbo'ed ones soon after. Dezod and deffinately ZPI will most likely already be looking into making them as soon as they make market.
I am deffinately looking forward in test driving one myself. I LOVE THAT COLOR. The Orage'ish color. THAT IS SICK PEOPLE.. I can see a Black and that color scheme working it way into my head. AND best of all it looks like its a 5 lug'er and i bet 5x100 lug pattern. So if it is, then 18's would look sweet. Cant wait to see more of this baby at the car show when it comes to Dallas... AWESOME!! Later..

I really like the old xB as well as the concept version of the new xB, but this 2008 xB misses the mark. Here are my opinions:
1. One of the prime appeals of the old xB was the boxy-ness, but the designers moved away from that, thus making the new version too rounded. Now the car looks too much like many others out on the market.
2. Specifically, the back of the car is too "aerodynamic". The back part of the roof should stick out more, much like the concept.
3. The hood/nose of the car should be a bit shorter/stumpier.
With the way it currently looks, it reminds me a of a baby Land Rover LR2 (aka FORD).

Much like anything else that is artistic, the first generation of a truly unique product is generally adopted by the avant-garde, courageous early adopters who want something truly different in a world where lots of things are dull, because they all look the same.
The New xB has the flavor of something that's been diluted, like the last weak drink you got at an overpriced bar.
I think change is inevitable..it's just that Scion broke no new ground with this attempt. Isn't that what the brand is supposed to be about?
I think the new xB is simply about using that old worn-out formula that formerly young and carefree (mostly single) Scion owners will want the bigger (dare we say van-sized)
model as they march into their 30's with wife, kids and the need to pile more stuff in their vehicles.
This is a large demographic and Toyota will convince them that they are buying a cool car.
The trend-setters though, are probably going to look somewhere else, because like films, the sequels are generally not as good as the original flick.

- Because it is bigger (yet smaller than Corolla)
- Because it is more usable (one move fold flat seats, completly fold back front seats)
- Because it is faster and will have SC for it
- Because it gas bigger brakes
- Because it has 6 airbags standard
- Because it has standard, real IPOD connection
- Because it has rear amp outputs
I understand people having xB ver1 being defensive, but lets get some perspective here. This is grown up vehicle with cool things that everyone wanted in their xB.
If you check collections of wishes posted around here, thats what xB is...

New xb is a beautiful machine, without a doubt. The only thing is that it is no longer the cute, quirky, funky little box anymore.......that is what attracted most people in the first place. They grew it all up and turned it into a luxury liner/minivan thing that looks like a family hauler. Very nice, but a far cry from the original theme. No longer cool. I can just see the "my kid is an honor student" stickers appearing on rear bumpers everywhere. The only thing they left out is the sliding side door. Oh well, so much for the philosophy they started with.
I love the new xB. Just wish I had all the specs before trading in my 05 xB a month ago for a minivan. I might have just gotten the new xB with its expanded cargo area.
...I can't help thinking that the new xB bares resemblance to the VW Golf. I see a lot of the same styling cues.

Well what's done is done, but scion execs need to read the feedback on here and come out with a smaller platform car (aygo-based?) more in the spirit of the origional, but even more economical. But Homda might beat them to it-

And if the Dodge Hornet gets produced, Scion is going to have some REAL trouble keeping it's OG's in the fold.

Ok, I'm gonna chime in here. I've been reading through pages and pages of haters. Guess what? A majority of them are xB1 owners. Surprise, surprise. Of course you are gonna say what you have is better. That is human nature. Its like coming on a tC forum and asking which is better between a tC and a Mazda3. I neither love nor hate the new xB, so I will say this from an unbiased perspective. Do you know why Scion asked the "haters" what they wanted and not the owners? They've already got your money. Of all the xB1 owners on here, probably more than 90% won't trade in your classic box for a new one: whether because you don't like it or can't afford to switch cars at will.
They want to ask the people that DIDN'T buy the xB1 what they wanted so they could make them xB2 buyers. Get it? In a nutshell, Toyota doesn't give a crap what you classic owners want. They already got what they wanted out of you. They want the other guys to buy the new ones so they made it bigger, gave it a bigger engine, and even added projectors. So with that said, I don't think its as bad as everyone is making it out to be. I wasn't one of the people that went to Miami. Thats why I'll reserve judgment until I see t in person. I urge all of you to do the same. Some of the same people that dogged the xB1 before they came out are the same ones that are driving one today. If they kept the original design, their would be twice as many "box" shaped Scions on the roads by 2008. I don't think thats what Scion is going for. They want each model to be unique in its own way...not a stretched box.

Yeah, you're right. They've already got my money.....but they won't be getting any more of it because they've changed the "CLASS" of the vehicle. Instead of buying a new toy to replace my present toy, I now have to look elsewhere. Probably end up looking into the Nissan CUBE when, and hopefully, it hits the US shores. I don't think myself or the others with similar opinions are hating the new model, but feel the "COOL" has been left out of the tires. A large part of the xb, and of all teenie-tiny boxes and cars is the fact that you can put on some custom wheels, a fart cannon, and maybe a couple of other things and have lots of fun with them while using a reasonable amount of fuel. You can take these "small cars" out and drive them to the performance limits and have fun. I love V8's, pickups, etc...but the problem with horsepower of that magnitude is fuel consumption and top speed.
You can't drive them to the limits of which they are capable. The appeal of the box is now gone. Maturity has taken it's toll. No more "vroom vroom". Only_____________________and family trips to Chuckie Cheese and Home Depot
Oh, and no pretty girls turning heads to look at your "Familymobile".

Sciontologist- So are you saying that Toyota doesn't want return buisness from owners of the origional models looking for a replacement with a similar price-point model? That would be dumb. Pretty sure Toyota and even Honda would not have become succesful companies with that philosophy.

We don't need faster. A Ferrari goes no faster in bumper to bumper traffic although it looks faster sitting still. Speed is just an outdated way to show off and one of the more common causes for deaths among younger drivers.
No quarrel with the need for better brakes, though replacement of rotors and pads will probably be more expensive. I cuurently have two other cars with full discs.
Definitely happy with the addition of six airbags. With cell phone yappin' SUV drivers, you need protection.
Rear amp output and IPOD connection. No problem with the inclusion of these features. However, they could have been included in any size vehicle.
My main beef with the the new xL xB is that it has no sense of humor. I doubt the xL xB will get as many smiles from strangers as the original flavor. Now it's just another car with an attitude. Larger with a lower mpg.. doesn't fit in those "left-over sized" parking spaces that were too small for most cars 'cept the original xB's and true compacts. For myself and my family, we use the xB as our scooter for short-run
errands cause it costs less and is more environmentally friendly.
I will pass on the xL xB and keep what I've got. I am intrigued by the Daihatsu Materia, although it doesn't look like it will be sold in the U.S. If it was and it had better safety features than my present xB, I'd definitely be interested.
