tC Named One of the Worst Poser Cars ... by Jalopnik Readers
The thread is like a cockroach. But if the article was referring to a stock car.....how is a stock car a "poser". A stock looking tC does not presume to "look" fast. It doesn't have styling cues to suggest it was fast. There is no definition on what the article determines to be a "poser". It just uses the word without describing in what context it's using the word. You can be a "poser" for many reasons. Instead of the author identifying what he/she thinks is a "poser", it leaves it up to the reader to come up with their own interpretation of what a "poser" is. Stock cars are not posers unless the styling of that vehicle suggest that it's fast/quick/agile more than what it really is. The tC does not have such stylistic cues. It's just a good looking car and does not try to imply that it's a race/sports car. It's a sporty car, not a sports car.
99% of the kids with swoopy hair, skinny jeans and a brand new skateboard are posers; kids wearing jewelry, listening to green day and saying they are punks are posers; cars...... Are inanimate objects, which as far as I know can't pose as anything ;)
The tC is just plain beautiful. Just very easy on the eyes and drives incredible. Even to this day, after 4 years and 70,000 miles later, I get excited to drive it back and forth to work. It's a fun car and with the few mods towards my N/A build, that one hour trip makes it even better.
The tc is a nice car. Comparing the engine to say the new focus....its a much better engine. It is sporty and has useable room due the roof line. If it is not what you like you need to step it up to the next level of say european car. No "posers" there. They are real.
Not to be a dick, but how is it a better engine than the new focus in any fashion?
Wow...this thread is still going.
Well here is my latest contribution to have a "Poser" car.
The Blue car in the vid is a 2010-2011 BMW M3. The Yellow car is a Type R Integra. The red car behind me, is a Civic Hatch with a k20 swapped in it.

TC has more horsepower first of all; without looking at the actual specifications the TC has more feeling of torque. Additionally, not with the engine, but the TC has a six speed manual transmission while the new Focus is a five speed manual. Who builds five speed manuals anymore? Thanks for asking.
Toyota does. Along with a 4-speed auto in the "new" 2012 Yaris.

I'm with you... but the trouble is (and the reason it shows up on this list) is because no everyone is doing the same thing. They buy it thinking it's a super car or something... or have outrageously high expectations of it. So they end up driving around trying to red-light-race everything on the streets.
Sadly those actions then filter down to the rest of the tC drivers and it makes us all look like douchebags... to a degree.

But I do agree with that article. Almost everytime I see a TC drive by the owner is always driving it haaaard
I swear they are becoming just as anoyying as the civic drivers

X2 ^^ I have to agree. I think most of us here that own tC's know exactly what it is...and what it is not. It's a decent looking 2-door coupe, Toyota quality/reliability factor, easy to modify into a DD that gets decent gas mileage and have enough "pep" to make you smile on your daily commute without costing an arm and both your legs to buy one.
