The cutoff is better than it's predecessor but by looking at those pics, I think there is still an ample amount of glare...

lol, im guessing b/c its a spot higher than the cutoff so when you go down a neighborhood street you'll see the squirrels up in the trees :D Oh, and watch them fall out of the tree from the blinding light

cuz when you drive around at night it lights up the signs and trees. once you have HIDs with a bad cutoff you will understand. with normal halogens u can't see anything above 4 feet off the ground. but with HIDs, light scatters all over the place and i guess some people can see squirrels up in the trees at night. LOL

It looks all right, but those squirrel spotters have me worried. Looks like it'd probably be glare for oncoming drivers... and not everyone flashes.

If I flashed everyone who had glaring HIDs, my high beams would probably burn out every week lol.

This is what the 'unmodified' projector should look like(this is a camry projector)

this is what it should look like after

simply use a 'poking device' longer than your fingers to push the tab all the way down

Now this is considered a 'quick fix' and some of the glare still manages to get through a slim crack that remains, heres what u can do for a much better fix

http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/sh...=192949&page=2

this is how they work

hope this helps, all curtesy (sp?) of the peeps at toyotanation!!

But do the squirrel spotters really cause glare? Because even without HID's these have the squirrel spotters, same with almost all Toyota/Lexus projectors. I would imagine they wouldn't be there if it caused glare.

Also, on the quick fix idea, if you bend that flap down, it looks like it couldn't be put back into place if needed?

You can't do it. I already called Custom Lightz and they can't put it in the low beam. You can put it in the high beam although just that would look weird.

yes, even with halogen, the squirrel spotters are still there, but the lumens are 4 times less intense, therefore the reflection of the divider is not as strong, so it doesnt botter oncoming drivers, when u stick HID's in there, the intensity of the squirrel spotters becomes a problem,

once the tab is bent, there is no going back

Halogens are hotter than HIDs

i was looking at the toyotanation post, and i was wondering if the JBweld and soda can part is needed for a clean cutoff (no glare at all)? And i was wondering if you push the stock squirrel spotter down will it stay down?

good cut off hid vs. good looking halo..

its the classic battle between quality safety vs. quality show...
