Default 3M Headlight restoration kit works great!

I figured I'd post this up there for anybody who has wanted to get there headlights looking back to brand new without buying new ones.

I first bought the turtlewax $10 headlight restoration kit and was sad when it didn't do much to help after working on the headlights for what seem like days and left my headlights probably worse with lots of tiny scratches you could still see.

So I bought the this 3M kit yesterday and tried it out.

It worked and returned my headlights to looking brand new after a few hours of hard work and a corded drill (I wouldn't recommend using a rechargeable one since it will most certainly die after 30mins of solid use).

You simply tape off the headlights with masking tape (I would double up on taping just to make sure you don't sand your bumper by accident)

You go over the headlights with three different grit sandpapers and then finally use a buffing attachment with rubbing compound.

The one bad thing is the kit doesn't come with a sealant to protect the work after your finished. Luckily the Turtle wax kit I used early did so I used it to after I was finished. The results pics are below as you can see the passenger side had not been done yet to show the difference between the two.

I just use wax and a buffer. But if that ever doesn't work I know what I'm going to!

To help prevent the dulling like this, on all of my vehicles I wax all light surfaces several times a year. Just helps to protect. But I had heard of good things with this kit, glad to see it worked.

First one I've seen that actually does what it says it does.
