? about removing scratches from headlights
Heading outside to do it now, I've got 15 mins till sunset, I'll probably just pull into the garage, pictures won't be as good but It will be better to have all mediocre than 90% great and 10% in the dark
Just finished, I'll post pics later tonight as I am about to start installing my angel eyes
I have mixed feelings about the outcome, overall Its better than it was before, it got rid of the ugly yellow scratch on the lens, and reduced all but one ding to nothing, and that's just because that ding was deep. But at the same time even following the directions perfectly, and spending extra time buffing and polishing it, i still ended up with swirl marks, although small, still noticeable if you look for them. Overall though I consider it an improvement over the way it looked before.
I only did my passenger headlight for now, as that's the one with the gash and this actually took around an hour or so, I might do the other tomorrow, it has minor scratches, nothing terribly noticeable though.

www.griotsgarage.com sells plastic polish that works great on headlights and tail lights, gets them good as new.
Alright sorry to bring back an old thread but i'm having the same problem with my headlights and didn't want to start another thread. But mines are pretty deep scratches. I sanded down with 1000 grits, 2000 grits, compound polish, and scratchX it. I don't know why but theres like a hazy like film over the parts I sanded. Almost like a frosted layer. I just bought these headlights to do my retrofit and any help with be great.
And also one of the clips under the triangle amber light is broken. Can I still mount the headlights without this clip?

You can most likely mount it with just one clip, if I had kept my old one I'd just send you one of the clips from it, but I threw it out when I got my new headlight.
I ended up buying a new headlight off of here because mine was too cloudy no matter how much I buffed it, I used the 3M kit on mine, I got lucky finding a headlight for $40, look around the classifieds, you can probably find what you're looking for if you're after a new one.

I did not use the 3m one. I was ggoing to use the plasticX from meguiars. I actually bought the set of headlights from a local guy for 80. They look good but one has a broken tab and the other has some milky residue on the inside of the headlight on the lens. I guess i'll go out and get the 3m. Whats it called?
the milky residue on the inside of the lense is usually from condensation that has dried up, only way to remove it is to open up the lights and wipe it off, but the inside of the lense is super super sensitive and will scratch with almost anything i have tried, lol
good luck!
good luck!
Tried the plasticX from meguiars and that just leaves alot of tiny scratches. I guess I'll buy the 3m one and try it out. So is one kit for just one headlight or can 1 kit be used for 2 headlight?
they say that one kit can be used for two headlights. But if they are supper foggy and not clear at all, i would buy two just in case. You can always return it if you don't need it.
Buying it online is 12 dollars. I think in stores is 20. Oh well. It should be a great investment.
