I am planning to finally upgrade to HID but I'm afraid of the various problems such as producing too much output while overheating the housing, wiring harness, connector, etc that I heard.

So now i want to hear what are the problems you guys have came across and which product did you use?

Finally, which product do you recommend and for how long have you been using it? Thanks and I think this will not only help me but MANY ppl out there to make their decisions.

Man, Yanki... you just really have something against HIDs, especially when not used in projectors.

no probs w/ overheating or melting of harness.. its more of a saftey issue IMO.. hid's arent meant for our housngs, so they will cause some glare.. that glare can be dangerous to oncoming drivers. to accodominate this, people have aimed them down.. but all that does is lower your output.. which is the exact opposite reason to go HID.. you want better output.. personaly, i wouldnt do it.. but that is me.. after seeing all the ricers here w/ there 8-10000k kits and the glare it causes and the hidioius blue and purple light they emit is horrible.. but its your ride.. BTW, it is illegal in all 50 states. its callled the HID ban... some states are lenient and some are strict... its up to you, but its an expensive "fix it " ticket IMO...

 

i know, i've learn my lesson when some so called HIG bulbs melted my connector. From now on, I'm either getting my headlights retrofitted or a pair that already have projector, a REAL HID.

 

you bought HID colored halogen bulbs.. not real HID bulbs/ballasts... a retro would be quality projectors, if you buy them w/ projectors already in them, like from ebay, those are crap projectors and are no where in the vacinety of being compared to REAL projectors.. but real ones doing a retro and quality hid kit is crazy crazy expensive.. i did it once.. but no way can i fathom spending $1K on headlights

yea, reason is i see "ALOT" of cars that have HID's that are not from factory! Ive seen from 6-12k in all types of cars, and some cars that shouldnt even been able to drive on the roads. I get nothing but glare in my face! At least 2-3 times a night while driving! It just bothers me. I know retrofit isnt going to be cheap but its the best way and besideds it looks 10x better in a projector than regular housing IMO. Which is why im starting mine little by little! For now i have the 9005 Silverstart retrofit mod in my lights and it worked out really well! I really like the light output it gives and it does the job 5x better than stock!

man, i just dont know why i love them HIDs so much, before i would just want to spend as little as possible and get that look, now i know the real hid is the real way to go. Does anyone know what "K" does a NISSAN 350Z's HID uses? My bro got a 350Z and i like the HID look of it. Thanks

 

im pretty sure its either 4100-4300k?

 

stock HID's are 4300K... the color you mostlikey like is at cutoff and that is from the projector...

 

yup, that's why if i were to get a HID, i'm definitely go for the projector too, spare no expense now, speaking of which, i like the S2000 or the TSX ones, they look nice.

 

yea the s2k's and the TSX's are nice. I just bought my a pair of TSX projectors that i should be getting sometime in the next couple of days!

Both are very different in price tho!
