Default Cheap Alternative to colored parking lights

Here's the backround. I wanted blue parking lights but I didn't feel like spending the money for LEDs which would burn out from the heat, so instead I went to autozone and decided to try out the Blazer lights. Well the Blue Blazer lights were awfully green for a blue color and it only got worse. I was bored today and decided to try something out. I know in the xbs and xa guage clusters, changing their color is as simple as taking a sharpie to the bulbs, So i decided to try this out for the parking lights, i wasn't expecting much but I must say that I'm very satisfied. The blue might not be as deep and as bright as LEDs but it'll be a lot cheaper and easier to replace them once they fade.

Just thought I would share. Sorry if this isn't new. I searched but didn't find anything.

Just tried it out in my Dome. Didn't come out as good but that's probably because I was rushing through the bulbs. I did three in the time it took me to do one headlight one. Need to redo these but heres how they came out.

Not bad, those parking lights look as good as my bulbs that I spent about $25 on.

The little clicky one with the fine tip. I just went into target and picked the first one I saw.

the sharpie is a good "quick fix" for color change. But it will fade, sooner or later it will fade. The sharpie will probably fade quicker from the heat of your bulbs quicker than the LEDs in the speedo of a xB

oh I'm counting on it fading. I wouldn't be surprised if it were to fade with-in a month. It'll still be cheaper and easier to fix then constantly buying LED bulbs.

i understand your point, but for the time and effort your put into this, time after time, and its not a true even blue, you could just get led's.. yes, the inverted cone ones as the die is more protected as it usualy has more plastic around it. i say screw the sharpie, buy the inverted led's from superbright, at 0.79 ea, they wont break the bank. i had mine last 5 months before one started to flicker on me. so, to me, thats less than $5 a year. and simple 30sec swap.. but that is me.. im picky like that.. id rather replace them, than have faded and uneven blueness.. blue is too good of a color to be sharpied.. you gotta treat blue w/ respect..
