Default Disable TPS?

How can you do it on an 08? I searched but only found "use tape" to cover the light.... I got new wheels and forgot to give them the sensors to put on. How do I turn this system off?

I think you hold the TPS button for 10-15 seconds until it flashes a couple times then turns off

step 1 check and make sure that your tires are inflated to the correct pressure
step 2 turn the ignition switch to the ON position. If the low tire pressure warning light comes on, push and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch (in the glove box) until the warning light turns off and then release the switch.
step 3 now press and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch until the low tire pressure warning light blinks three times.
step 4 initialization is *not* completed until driving at the vehicle speed of 19 mph or over for more than one hour. the tire pressure monitoring starts when initialization is completed.

you can't disable it.

get your stock sensors.. and install them into your new wheels.

I think he's trying to get the light to stay off entirely, even though the sensors aren't in the wheels. You have to put those sensors back in to keep that light off...no if's, and's, or buts about it...

The sensors are in the wheels in the 07-08 model. I know cuz I've seen mine when I put my rims on. You can't disable them. you could either tape it, or get new sensors from the dealership, which are pretty expensive I think.

Only way on the 07-08 is to put the TPMS valve stems onto your new wheels. Or drive around with your old wheels, still pressurized, inside the car.

some guy actually had his wheels chillin in his garage. So everytime the TPS light went off, he just pulled into the garage, pushed the reset button and he was good to go . Mine went off like 2 months after I took my rims off for the winter steel wheels.

That's how mine is, I've got my stock wheels inside my other tC, so every morning when I get in my car, my TPMS light is off, then halfway to work it blinks, then when I get to work it stays on..then when I get back within range it begins to blink...I'm used to having it on, so I don't mind it.

so yeah fyi... it's illegal to actually tamper with the TPMS.. well according to tread act. but each person is their own.. so yeah. i've heard some ppl actually just stuff all their sensors in to the spare tire.. set pressure at 32.. tpms light is gone.. again.. no "respectable" ie... big corporation tire centers will do that but.. it is an option.

some people have put the sensors in the spare tire since it's always with the car anyways.

Not sure if you can do this, or if this will work, but can you buy an extra set of 4 sensors and install them on the new wheels? How much would the dealer charge for another set of sensors and would they conflict with the old ones?

You can buy new ones and get them programmed, but it will probably cost about $500 for the sensors and labor.

they won't conflict with the old ones because you'd be having the dealership reprogramming the ecu to accept the new sensors...

however, it does delete the programming for the old sensors.
