Fog Install...STUCK :(
Hello everyone. This is my first post although I have been browsing between here and a few other forums without posting. I just finished hard wiring my radar detector to the light dome after reading a DIY post on here. I've been putting that off for way too long. Anyway, on to my point.
I made the mistake of buying a cheap fog light kit off eBay. I wish I had invested in a higher quality one, but I didn't, so I want to work with what I have for now. From the DIY's I have read, the fog kit wires to the taped up pink wire/connector on the drivers side. I found that no problem, however the kit doesn't connect to that. ALSO, under the dash behind the empty switch panels I'm not sure what goes where. My kit is weird.
Here is what my kit looks like:

And now some close ups:
These are the wires coming from the switch:

And this is the harness that connects to the fogs:

And then there is this red wire with connectors on both ends:

Now, my impression is that this kit is kind of universal aside from the fogs themselves made to fit into the tC. To me it looks like the under the hood harness goes to ground/battery, then the red wire runs thru the firewall to the connector on the switch, and the switch is grounded under the dash. However, I'm not sure what the yellow wire coming from the switch would be for. It is labeled "Light Ign" but fits no where. I really hope I am missing something here (not physically) because the kit was described as a "plug and play" type kit that hooks directly up to factory connections/wiring. Two wire tap/splices came with the kit too. PLEASE help me out here, I am puzzled. Thanks.

my fog harness dont look nothing like that...
my fogs connect to each other then a cable goes to a pre-installed OEM harness (grey) located right under the driver side headlamp. so I pluged my Harness there and then the fog light switch connects to the a harness behind the fuse pannel within the car itself and thats it...

I know the fog light itself is different you have the VRDs look and the guy from the link has OEM but the harness are the same except the one from the links connect to a 9006 bulb , but the harness that came with the VRDs connect to the red/white terminals of the fog light itself...
hope this helps but again, the harness I have look just like the one from the link above.
and I am sorry that my input didnt really answered your question regarding where to connect the wires that came with your kit

Thanks for the input. I read and reread his DIY post. I can't really get anything out of it because the harnesses are different. I'm pretty sure I can wire this up by tapping for power to that pinkish purple cable he hooks up to under the hood and grounding like he did, but I am lost as to what the yellow cable is for coming from my switch. I also have never ran anything through the firewall of a vehicle before. I had my friend do it when I installed my sound system on my last car, so if I did have to do that I would need some help. AHHHH! This is frustrating.
I have the same ones i think they are known as jdm fogs* Jdm* is a fail. its really easy to install. take a picture of the entire kit and label the ends with # and ill tell you what goes with what and what u need to do.
The only thing u need to do is cut the yellow top so that just the wire shows, and just connect it to a power source under the dash,as far as the black wire all u need to do is ground it .... tomorrow i will take a pic of mine so u can see.. let me know if u will still need it.

Heres the whole set. My guess is:
8 is grounded under the hood.
4 goes to battery.
7 goes to 6 and 5 goes to 3
2 is grounded under dash
1 goes...????
This means running a cable thru the firewall. Isn't there a way to piggyback off the factory wiring??

HAH!
I just did one of these for a customer. Number 1 (yellow) is an ignition power source if I remember correctly. Just cut the end off and tie it into something. And yes, you have to go through the grommet in the firewall. It was annoying to install these.
People need to buy either the OEM fogs, or the VRD's which hook to the stock harness, everyone cheaps out and makes more work for themselves.

Here we go

Install was fairly simple, just a little tedious with the crappy wiring harness. I had to connect the red wires and then run it through the firewall to the switch. I also had to cut off the end of the yellow wire and I ran it to the fuse box for power. I jacked up the front of the car to get under the bumper to mount the fogs easily. It took me about 2 hours to do. I took my time with it and it was a learning experience for me. I'm sure an experienced person could do it way quicker. Thanks for the help everyone, despite them being cheap eBay fogs, they look pretty decent.
