Default Foggy Headlights

So my stock headlight keeps getting foggy and wet inside. when it gets cold out the water inside freezes too. I don't want to replace my headlights, does anyone know if its a good or bad idea to take it apart, clean it and try to seal the gaskets and cracks? if so, whats a good sealant to use? Thanks

Before you do anything I think you should figure out how the water is getting in. Are there cracks? Are all the bulb sockets intact or missing? Pretty much any crack or large opening can allow moisture to get in.

If there are no cracks and all your bulb sockets are intact then it sounds like you may have a bad seal.

You have 2 options:
1) Buy new head lights (obviously you stated you didn't want to do this)
2) Bake open your head lights, clean up the water and re-seal it

I recently baked my lights open to do a HID retrofit and to re-seal it I used a butyl glue I purchased here: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/acc...bber-glue.html

It's going to be quite a bit of work, but if you're good with your hands then it should be pretty easy. Run a search on how to bake open your head lights and give it a good read. Chances are you might opt to buy new head lights after. lol

Which side is bad? I have a nice driver side headlight, will let it go for a reasonable price. Trust me, far easier to replace the bad one than trying to bake and reseal an f'd up one. If yours is cracked, don't even bother to try to fix it. Well worth it it to replace it, for short money.

Yeah, you will need a new headlight. The moisture can and eventually will cause shorts and wreck your oem wiring. Anytime moisture gets in, it ain't getting out, not even with that half a.ss silicone or glue or whatever people try now-a-days.
