There was no factory plug to plug in? You just stuck "prong" into the old harness. I would send that kit back and get one with OEM plugs. You are just asking for problems that way. Also, is your kit a 35w or 50w?

Well as long as its 35w, it wont draw more power than the stock bulbs. Probably just a faulty kit...I still would be leary of a kit without OEM plugs.

There is no such thing as plug n play you gotta run a relay at least with these kits because to ignite your HID's you gotta use 20,000 volts and thats bad on a harness. I recently blow a relay on mine due to water.

There are plug & play kits available. The harness plugs directly into the factory wiring, which then leads to the HID ballast, and then to the HID bulb. It only draws 35w, the same as the stock bulbs so there is no way you can damage your factory wiring.

Dude to ignite the bulbs it takes 20,000 volts, thats why you have BALLASTS <<<--- These ignite the bulbs otherwise you would just have a standard bulb. So yes you need a relay setup with your HID's but you can find out the hard way with the $130 switch. Do the research before you put stuff in your car

Use a relay homie.

Stock wiring isn't gonna hold up to the 20,000 volts needed to ignite the bulbs.

All it takes is one plug to be backwards.

Or maybe you just got a ____ed up kit.

i just recently had complications with my hid that ive had for 9 months.
the bulbs nor the fuses arent blown
so im guessing it may be the harness (which looks fine) or the ballast.
could there be a way to figure out which could be causing the problem?

Ankryth -

Since I'm local and may know a little bit about HID lighting, let's meet up and I'll see what I can do to help you out man.

my hids havent been working for a while and contacted hidworld.com informing them about my situation. they sent me new ballasts but still dont work. they responded by saying..."plug directly the NEW ballasts to battery." dont u need to connect the wire harness to the battery, connect ur ballast to the wire harness, then connect ur hid to the ballast? how would u connect ur ballast DIRECTLY to ur battery?
