Default Hitch Kit for TC.

I don't like the yakima roof racks available from Scion.
I'm lookn' for a bike rack suitable for our cars.
I have a rack that straps on the rear deck lid but will not work because of my pedestal spoiler.
Searchn thru the web and came across this.

Do you think this hitch kit w/ bike rack is custom install?
Where can I get this? How much?

it is recommended in the owners manual that you dont tow anything with the tc... so the tow hitch is probably custom made...

you'll have to put something together yourself.. i would just go to the dealer and throw on the bike rack on the roof of the car. you said you dont like it... why not? just do it. you can always get one cheaper online.

I'm really not towing anything if it's just a bike. But I understand that these cars aren't designed for haulin'. However, looking at one of the pictures, that hitch looks like it's design around the TC. Where it mounts around the muffler and how it's put together. Looks like a factory option.

Well, in my opinion, the roof rack is too flimsy to rack a bike and is designed more for snowboards and ski.

In another thread where I saw those pics, somebody had a link. Here's a hitch, Class 1 and mounts to the frame for $139:

RE: the link posted above. That is where I got my hitch. It was not too hard to install (you will need to "drill out" 1 hole just a little bigger, the instructions explain it all...no guess work) I have had 3 bikes on mine and no probs at all. I also
set up lighting for towing..I know your not to tow with this car. No probs again, just a little shake here and there. The only possible downfall is that it is a 1 1/4" receiver not a 2". I used a 2" along with a reducer, very bad. My bikes were swinging all over the place. I ended up with a yakima 4 bike mount with a 1 1/4" post. Any questions let me know.

I noticed that you're always flamin' on something or somebody on other post. This topic is not about stock mufflers.

Anyway, thanks to the ones who provided the info. and to everyone with their relevent replies.
