Default How to repair rear molding

I had to order a new rear molding piece because mine broke off (the piece with the Scion logo that opens the trunk). There is a wire which runs into the car where I can't see where it ends. Anyone know if I just have to force it out, or go in through the inside of the car? Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure what wire you're talking about. The one for the trunk release? Does that not just disconnect from the release button? Or the release button disconnects from the hatch piece?

The door release can be pryed out of the garnish, but I wouldn't suggest that as it might be hard to put back lol. Its easier to remove the interior panels and disconnect the wire.

I guess there might be an easier way, but the way I did it was I removed the beige pieces surrounding the back window, removed the clips holding in the hatch interior panel, then remove the screws towards the other end, then pull it all down by gently nudging around the corners then eventually the entire thing. You'll see where the wire ends.
