$20 buffer won't be the best, but it'll be a whole lot easier than doing all of it by hand.

hey kennon i painted my tc's tails they turned out great, then i started doing my bro's caddy and when i painted them, now they have cracks...do u know what would have caused this?

Number of things. Bad prep work, no adhesion promoter, coats too wet.

 

they were well sanded, and i tried it 2 times and still crack looking..i don't know why? and i did'nt used a adhesion promoter...should i redo them?

 

^ Absolutely! Why wouldn't you? Do they want the cracked effect?

 

What's an adhesion promoter? (Noob question possibly)

 

Basically a clear transparent primer.

 

how come I didnt use it when I used vht?

 

I have a question... I cleaned my tail lights, and then I sprayed them with VHT nightshades... there was a small place that looks like dirt got on. I wet sanded them, and now the spot is gone. Instead of it being shiny looking, it's dull and sanded looking, yet smooth. Do I just wipe it clean and then spray clear on it? or...

 

^Yes. Wipe it clean with a tack cloth.

 

Even if some areas on the tail lights look chalky and not completely black in areas? Just wanna be sure :D

 

Why do they look chalky, you not spray the coats on evenly?

 

Because I wet sanded them.

 

If you wet sanded them they shouldn't look chalky. Post a picture of what they look like.

You need to wet sand more. Looks like you wet sanded just parts of it. Go in a back and forth motion...not circular.

 

But they should look like this right? The dull areas are okay before clearing them yes?
_ I didn't do circular, I did back and forth, just moved as the angle of the lights changed.

 

^Yes. you want it to look like a dull/flat finish, then clear coat it.
