i got a police question
dude the same thing happened to my dad couple months ago in san jose. The thing that ____ed us off the most was that we had a video from the parking lot security cameras and still nothing. Why have security cameras if you dont catch the culprit. It seems as if its jsut a waste of money.
its not going to do anything, Im sure they have a policy that states that criminal activity reports of certain crimes will be taken over the phone and an officer does not need to be dispatch unless X,Y,and Z (some random things that never occur all at once) are present at the time the call is placed ... so they cover their ___ ...
Take lots of pix, file the police report online. (It is property crime only so probably you will never see a police officer). You definitely need to log your calls to the police - time, date, name and serial # of the officer or police rep you are speaking to. In Hayward they probably won't dispatch a cop just to take a report for a property crime. Make sure to include any serial #'s or Identifications you might have for the stolen property in the police report. This is for insurance purposes. Make photocopies of everything. When speaking with the insurance agent, or the police, always assume the worst - assume that they will lose reports, deny that you called them, deny that you talked to them, claim they never got a fax, claim they never got snail mail, etc. etc. The insurance agent especially makes a big fat bonus if they DON'T pay out on claims so make sure to document, document, document. If they know you're keeping fastidious and thorough records, they're less likely to screw with you.
