engifineer!
but yeah, i have a wiring project that I have no idea how to complete.
To start off, last night i got pulled over for not having an amber sidemarker. Go figure this is florida, the state that doesnt give a crud about exhaust emissions but all of the sudden thinks that a bulb is important. anyways yeah... what I would like to do is rewire the front turn signals and the mirror turn signals to give me an amber sidemarker.
i'd like them to be constantly on when the parking/lo/hi beam lights are on. when i use the directional though, i'd like for them to cut power and turn off and on. i want them to be off when the lights are off. I know that this wont give me amber during hte daytime, but i'll deal with that.
what kind of wiring does this involve?

Why not just do what most m3 owners do and keep everything clear w/ white bulbs and just have a extra side marker that's amber. Its a much easier solution and am I not sure why you'd want to do what your asking.
hey man I'm an EE too
I just don't know anything ... yet
Maybe you should just have a random amber LED in your wheel well? heh... so you didn't escape the fuzz totally afterall! darn
You could always do that sidemarker mod... but that'll involve drilling and would make your tC a bit more complicated which probably wouldn't flow with your "clean" theme

the simplest way is to buy a 7443 socket and wire the 8w to the parking and 27w to the signal. i'm not sure how commonly available a 7443 socket is. i know the 1157 sockets are more widely avaible at kragen or autozone. you might be able to hack one up to fit and use 1157 bulbs instead of 7443.
if you want a constant 27w that stays on with parking and flashes with signal, then you can get creative with three relays.
first for parking
pin 85 to +12v of either parking light
pin 86 to ground
pin 30 fused to battery (+12v)
pin 87 split to +12v of both bulbs with a signal relay inline for each side of the signal.
for the signal, you add the relay inline from pin 87 of the parking relay to the bulb's +12v after the split, you'll need one for each side
pin 85 to +12v of left or right signal
pin 86 to ground
pin 30 to pin 87 of parking relay
pin 87a (not pin 87) to +12v of bulb.
repeat for other side.
you can use 4 relays instead of three, and eliminate the split from the parking relay's pin 87 wire. you'll just have two relays for each side.
there might be easier ways with relays, i'm at work so its just something i threw together quickly.

actually now that i think about it some more, its more difficult than that and will need some diodes because i only assume your parking is always on and forgot about your hazzards and signals when the parking is off. i'll think about it some more later, or maybe somebody else can figure it out. it'll be a whole lot easier if you use two filament bulbs instead of playing with relays.

I was thinking about doing something like this for the signals on the mirrors:
http://www.webelectricproducts.com/ (click 'daytime running lights', then scroll down and click 'click here for more detail')
Only thing is I'd like to have the lights stay on when the parking and/or headlights are on.
I would also like to try out their brake light pulser.
