Why did you take your headlights and front off?!? Something bigger in the works?

ok, i dont know about your guys's tc's, but my wires are the same size for the highs/lows.... right? hmm.. lets think about that... melting of harness's come to play when people stick 80W farenheight or eurolights in there that are hyperwhite and are 80W to overcome the blueish tint.. thats when you have problems.. so your harness should be ok.. and yes, the highs are aimed totaly differnt than the lows.. so if you do this, the lows will be brighter by throwing more light right in front of you.. not up blinding people... from an electrical stand point, this will work.. the wattage isnt much of a change at all..

as for the person who said to use "toyota" bulbs.. WTF? toyota dosent make bulbs.. LOL.. its a regular old plain jane bulb.. buy it anywhere from any other manufacture.. LOL..

so as long as you keep the stock flaver of wattage, then you should be golden.. as for cool blue's limiting you output, you got to be kidding me.. you cant hardly tell that there is anything on them.... its not like an eurolite that is $hit caked w/ blue to give you the ricer wannabe HID impersonator worthless crap look ever invented, so yeah.. just end it and do an LED headlight retro.. LOL.. its already here.. its just not economical..

I just did it.

Bought the cheapies, just standard 9005's. Thought about silverstars, but all the packages were opened, so I bought the sylvania $9 ones just to try them out.

They're much brighter... and I've had more difficulties taking poops than changing them out. Definitley worth it.

I've seen at least three tCs that have been running this mod for quite some time... not an issue in the world.... good idea for better light output, without causing HID issues, or getting the cops on you.

Seriously... just buy the ~10/each 9005 bulbs. Just the regular stock replacements

I'm sure you could do the silverstars version of 9005, but I can't imagine it'd be much brighter. Just with the stockish 9005s in there its like artificial daylight.

you can get one at the dollar store.. pretty cheap... or use a old knife and a lighter.. heat the knife, use it as a solder iron.. get custom w/ it!

Used pliers.

Just clamping down on the section to be removed, the plastic fragments pretty well.

The 2 guides in the socket were a little harder, had to use needlenose pliers and a boxcutter to try to shave it down.

hey guys, i'm new here.. just wanted to share my input here as well. i've done this on my camry with coolblues (same bulbs for 3 years and counting) and its just fine. its nothing the harness cant handle, since it pulls the same as a high beam bulb.
i put silverstars into my gf's accord and its been great as well. just don't touch the bulb with your fingers and you'll have brighter lights that last a while.
i've heard of GE Nighthawks to be very good as well, so i may get them for the tC i'm getting in a couple of months.

here they are in my camry..

okay, so i did this mod last night. i went from 9006 silverstars to 9005 silverstars. i definitely noticed an improvement; the 9005's were much brighter. another thing i noticed is that they didn't exactly have the same white look as the 9006 silverstars did. the 9005's seemed a tad bit on the yellow side, but still nowhere near as bad as the stocks. lastly, and more importantly, i got the impression that i might need to adjust the headlights a little higher. for some reason i just feel like my cutoff is a little lower. am i the only one that felt this way? i know it certaintly didn't seem that way from the pics on the first page. it very well could just be my imagination. when i have more time i will stick a 9006 back in and pull up in front of a wall for comparison. anyways, overall i'm very satisfied.

hmMmMmMmMmM.......why so?

does it give better light? What "K" were you running on the HID's? Did you use silverstars?

Ive been thinking about getting the 6k HID's or something similar to a nissan or cadilac HID's without projectors?

I had 4600k HID's they were nice, but as people know they are not that great without a projector, even without they are ok, the pattern was nice etc. but i only drive my Tc during the day really and they were a waste of money to keep in the car, Now i run the silverstars 9005's and they work pefect, they are very bright and have perfect light dispersion.

I dont discourage HID's they look great too, but again it was preference, not something that was technically wrong with the idea
