Default Kami Kit Question

I was looking at the Buyers guide for Body kits and saw some dude had the Kami Kit with a K&N CAI and the thing stuck right out through one of the sides holes.

Doesn't that make Hydrolocking really easy? its just there isnt it easy to poop on your car?

I assume you're talking about this...

I don't think it would be a big problem. I have an Injen CAI which sits in the same location, although I don't have the Kaminari kit so I don't have it directly exposed. Still, water spray can easily reach my filter and it doesn't cause problems. Spray is not a big problem because the water doesn't get inside. Submersion is the thing you need to avoid. And since our intakes sit relatively high up, there is not much chance of submerging your intake in a normal puddle. However, if you drive through a big flood then you are just asking for trouble and it won't make any difference what kit you have, or if you have no kit at all.

just find some way of working on a bypass valve, and try to stay off the throttle around puddles.

If you ask me, bypass valves are pretty pointless. A small amount of moisture is not enough to get inside and cause problems. However, if you submerge the filter then the bypass valve won't do anything to stop the engine from being destroyed. A bypass valve is designed to prevent a problem which doesn't really exist, and it still doesn't provide any insurance against stupidity.
