My TYC's currently look like this. My personal opinion, I like them this way but some people have said they are too dark, nice, _____in, etc. My only concern about having them this dark is that California cops are starting to crackdown on tinted tails....even more than tinted windows. I know one way or another however I paint them they won't be DOT legal....even if the turn signal, parking, reverse and brake lights are visible.

I have to retint them regardless because a couple coworkers poured soda all over them and my car. Needless to say they have lots of imperfections in them now and will have to be untinted and tinted/cleared AGAIN.

So leave them as is or do the same pattern in red or amber or a lighter tint?

 

I say just redo them but a lot lighter.

And kick ur coworkers' ___!

 

I'd leave them the way they are they look nice wit the FM damnit I want these so bad wish I had the patience and time to make my TYCs like that

x2 for redo-ing them but with a lighter tint. i wanna redo mine but use tint spray instead of overlays :/ but i'm too chicken

 

dannygenio - I would sell them but they got to get retinted either way. Also this is my only set of tails and would need a replacement set ASAP.

yellowxboy - I'll do them if you have a spare set to drive around with. Where in So Cal are you located?

 

i voted red because i would like to get it done and want to see how they look. I like the stock look, maybe even ALL red minus the reverse light.

 

FLEA - small town called La Palma, stuck between Cypress, Buena Park, Long Beach and Cerritos. I sold my stocks :/ i have the same TYC tails like yours but i used bluebat's overlays. The pics on my profile. its alright and all but i prefer tint spray but spray + me = bad.

 

Spray + me = GOOD.....well, so far.

 

Imagine that but red towards the bottom where the black is...the only part not sprayed is the reverse and brake lights.

do them red and then tint your TBL red too . Then you for sure won't get any trouble haha

I voted for the same but lighter. I like your orig. TYCs a lot but if So Cal. cops are going to hassle you for them, just go a shade or 2 lighter. Don't do red!! (<---Because I already have my TYCs red. ) j/p

 

Hyqhqynx - Stupid question but do your turn signals illuminate red or amber still? You used red Vans paint right? How many coats? 1 or 2 cans? Any cop trouble or do they not know the difference since it's blatantly red?

 

1. They illuminate red! That's why I like them so much.

3. I believe 4 or 5. (It's been a while, I can't quite remember exactly how many coats.) Since I've seen your TYCs, I want to re do them and make them clean. My TYCs are just about 2 years old now. I've learned a lot more (from you) on how to make them better. That's why I want to touch them up.
4. 2 CANS!! The cans are smaller than normal. Definitely 2 cans fo' sho'!
5. No cop trouble whatsoever. The all red TYCs almost look like the 'o6 Accord tails (sans the reverse lights on the trunk). I had a cop follow me in Burbank about a month ago. No issues.
