Well...I've spent about 6 to 7 hours today and have completed one side haha. The top, lighter colored layer pulls off ridiculously easy. The bottom, darker layer however, has obviously been affected much, much more by the light that it's been exposed to for the past year and a half. I can pull up a section about 4-5 inches at the most before it tears. And that's if I'm lucky. I've tried several different methods. Constant heat while I'm pulling; heating, then pulling; no heat; pulling with my fingers grabbing the vinyl close to the car; pulling with my fingers grabbing the vinyl further from the car. EvErYtHiNg!!! It's driving me insane. My granddad and I are going to Lowes tomorrow for something, I can't remember what he needs, but I'm gonna look for something to help pull up a corner easier while I'm there. I saw a video where a guy was using some kind of plastic scraper thing to get the adhesive off with and pull up corners to start with. As far as removing the bulk of the adhesive today, I found that the bug & tar remover didn't work at all. Goo-Gone worked wonders though. My paint just looks dull around the bottom area from where I guess it has stripped off all the wax and some of the adhesive has just been spread around rather than wiped completely off.

Anyways, the passenger side will be done tomorrow. As well as a good cleanup of the adhesive on both sides. A good claying and waxing is in order too. Hopefully I'll have pics then.

Ok, so I didn't do anything today with it. But yesterday I finished getting all the vinyl off. I started taking off the adhesive with some Goo-Gone and toothbrush (may have already mention that).

My problem however, is that although the Goo-Gone (okay, I'm calling it GG everytime I say it again in this thread) does break the adhesive up, it just seems to form a paste and smear everywhere. And that "paste" won't wash off. I can hit it with more GG and "liquify" it again. But then it just thickens back up and sticks. I can't wash it off, alcohol won't take it off, bug & tar remover won't take it off.......grrrrrr.

I noticed that this is mainly on the door where the most adhesive was at. On the passenger side, behind the door, you can't tell anything was ever there. But everywhere else I'm having problems. Any suggestions on getting that crap off? It's all over the driver side, I didn't notice 'til the sun hit it right and it looks like crap. The passenger side is nasty looking all the way to the back of the door. Oh, and the clay bar wasn't working either...

Tomorrow there is a good chance I will be seeing the guy who put the flames on to begin with because we are both in a model flying club in Wilimington, so I will ask him about it if I see him. Until then, suggestions from you guys would be great.

This pic is horrible as far as lighting is concerned and my car is filthy. But at least you'll have an idea for what it looks like now.

And my new "mod" lol.

These flames (for those who don't already know):

But I was wondering, assuming I don't find any adhesive remover, will bug & tar remover work just as well? Secondly, are either potentially harmful to your paint? I just can't help but think that it can't be good to spray something on your paint that has the power to remove tar and guts and stuff.

Anyway, hope to be doing this later today or sometime tomorrow. I'll be sure to post pics.

Honestly...I LOVE the rims....but not on a silver tc...Its just hard for me to see how that flows at all
