Got an update, I made the template for the base... looks like it'll do very nicely at as high as a few inches, as long as its the leaned-back sort of design like the xD has. I think i'll tell Jim to make one that is 1 1/2 inches shorter than the ones for the xD/FIT but the same basic design.

I would post up pics of the template but it's just a cardboard piece to mock the shape of that area. I am shipping it to Jim ASAP (Monday)

All that will be involved is cutting out an area (template could be easily provided im sure) under where the scoop will go, and using molding tape just stick it on. If it can hold spoilers on, it can easily hold the scoop.

Now as far as whats under there, it's going to be the wiper motor basically.

The best update will be the prototype kicking it on top of my cowl in all of its glory, I already have some ideas on how to mock the ducting to make it functional also. :D I also may just remove that wiper arm/motor, put a nice cap over the hole and use one big wiper. Working on ideas.

Heres a real crappy chop I did of the scoop, very discrete and it will only be noticeable up kind of close unless you know what you're looking for - nice n clean

Will do for sure. I am thinking it will take only a couple of weeks for Jim to make a prototype for the tc, which I will test out and take pics of and see what if anything is needed to be changed to make it work perfectly.

That is, once he gets my template, probably wednesdayish

hmmm...looks like it barely clears the hood.
im assuming your doing this just to get more air down into the bay.
but if it barely clears the hood how will that help?

Yea had some troubles setting up the poll (fking forum is screwed, lol)

You guys are saying you want the scoop to be taller? Cause the hood can easily clear one the size of the FIT scoop, I just thought the slimline shape was a little cleaner.

Let me know if you think it needs to be taller, and we can do that. I told Jim to make them the same style as the FIT, but half an inch shorter. If you want them the same height, we can do that too. But I will have him make this one first, and if it needs to be taller, we can see how much more room we have to play with the part on the car.

We'll say right now the prototype will poke up about 3 1/4 or so inches higher than the hood line. Good?

*Could a mod please change the first Nay to a Yay, lol*

it would be awkward having the scoop rise higher but if it's going to be there might as well be functional. If it works right the air could potentially be directed into a SR intake. I don't think it's something I would put in without seeing it installed before hand.

It will take a little bit of DIY to make it functional, but I am going to look into taking the drivers side wiper off (I actually have a VERY sick plan that is unique to tc's, that I am working on with someone now also) and having something like drier ducting go from the bottom of the scoop right onto the filter.

What else would be cool IMO is if I can get like a K&N drop-in style air-filter, put it under the scoop, and duct it right onto the intake mani. True ram-air setup. Better suited for non-rainy places of course.

We will see, once I get the prototype.

I'm interested assuming it's able to feed more than just the wiper motor.

Update; shipped the template out, and used 2nd day priority.

It will be up to the buyer if they want to be unique and make it functional, or do like some and just stick things on cause its purty.

I personally will be going with the driver-wiper delete setup i'm thinking of (which includes making a whole new cowl) and ducting the scoop directly to the intake. It wont take much work to do a little snipping and still have it functional, with the wiper motor still there. Just wont be optimal air flow.

These won't be mass produced which is whats great, so for the few guys who take it far and make the modifications needed to make them a true scoop ram-air setup, it will be a sick show piece and also one of the best intake mods available for the tc, IMO.
