do you even have to think about?
here are the three biggest reasons WHY manual:

1.chicks dig guys who drive manual
2. manual is cheaper
3. if a manual and auto tc were to race, the manaul would win

I got an auto. But it's my daily driver. If it was my only car I would have bought a stick.

So does anybody here have a manual as a daily driver? Just curious. And what kind of traffic do you go through if it is a daily car

Get a manual, or you'll regret it.

I regretted getting a manual at one point though, because my sister couldn't drive it, but than I taught her, and b/c my grandparents thought my shifting was sketchy.

Auto:
Pros: you can drive with 1 hand on the steering wheel and eat with the other.
-Hills are a bad
-You don't embarrass yourself (stalling, when learning how to drive, if you don't know how)
-If you drunk and need to get home, someone can drive it for you who doesn't know how to drive stick.

Cons:
Not as challenging
Eating or doing something with 1 hand is distracting haha

Stick:
Pros- Your cool
-all the girlies want to learn how to drive a stick so you can teach them and then they'll ride your stick...jking =D
-you get to buy nice shiftknobs and boots =]
-your a little bit faster
-it's funner
-Your brakelight is not on when your at a stop
-Saves gas
-Is cheaper to buy
-You won't regret it

Cons:
-Hills
-Stalling
-Not a lot of people know how to drive stick
-traffic
-convincing parents to buy you a stick

Thats all I can think of, hoped it help your decision making

if you're asking which to go with, you're probably better off going with an auto IMO. you have to know you want to drive a manual all the time if you get a manual. either way, have fun with your tC oh and don't do anything stupid. it's not a race car!

The thing is, if you get an auto, you can always do a manual conversion, but its costly though, I say... go with your parents decision if their paying for your car.

Haha it reminds me they didn't have a stick RS3 at my dealer so they tried to persuade me to get the auto one, they said they'd throw anything accessories in, but yet I refused...

I drive an auto because i commute. However, I have been very happy lately that I have an auto because I broke my shoulder and I would not be able to get to work if I had to shift.

This is a very good point. It's one reason I got an auto. If you play any sports like soccer or football you should also think about if you were to hurt your knee or even your ankle, it would make it difficult if not impossible to drive the manual.

The other thing I thought about is, after a 9-10 hour day of brain consuming work (I'm an airplane electronics engineer), I'm not sure the next thing I want to do is have to focus a lot on the drive home.

^same here.

i work long hour shifts, hit traffic daily, drive city and do the occasional trip to frisco and thats why i got auto. not to mention i get easily distracted. lol

also if i was more into performance/ speed id wouldve got manual (i was going to originally before the above factors kicked in), but since im more into electronics and relaxed driving i felt that auto wouldve made more sense for me.

it depends on the drivers habbits and what fits them better. :D
