Default Overlay removal

well, i had Headlight Armor OEM foglight covers on my car, but i switched them with Bat BlueMobile. and i had to redo my Bat BlueMobile headlight covers since i was in a rush the first time...

before i did it i searched the term "overlay removal" just so see what i was getting into...

Bat BlueMobile overlay removal...

lke butta! just pealed off nothing left behind. just a quick rinse and put on the new ones!

Headlight Armor however, not the case at all!
i didnt get a picture of it because i was soo shocked! but the pass side glass came out in a perfect circle! the armor took the glass off!

the drivers side looked like this...

the glass was cleaned before i put the cover on... so i dont know where all the stuff came from? it took about 15 minutes of scrubbing to get it all off, but im going to have to buy a new set of fogs because of what the overlays did.

i dont know what Rock Blockers would look like at removal but i would love to see if anyone has pics of taking the film off...

are there any other brands?

Lets compare apples to apples why dont we before we just run around say one is better than the other cause it comes off cleaner shall we.

1. When did you install that film on the headlights? I know it was less than 3 weeks since you jsut got sponsored by Blue Bat
2. How long was the film on the fog lights before you removed them
3. is the fog light for a tC
4. Is it aftermarket or factory bulbs in there

There are a lot of factors that you are missing here so let me educate you since you are so knowledgeable in the last two weeks of getting sponsored by Blue bat since we wouldnt.

The film that we use and Blue bat are the same sort of. We carry two while he carries only one. The film thats the same we will call Blue Bat

Blue Bat has a max temp fo 176 degrees before the adhesive will start to melt and breakdown. Your headlights on the tC as is most cars runs around 140 degrees so that leaves you a difference of +/- 36 degrees. Plus headlight bulbs sit farther away than fog light bulbs do from the lense and the material you put over it. So to compare the two is apples to oranges. You should of caught that huh?

The fog light in most cars run around 190 degrees these days. The adhesive on our RockBlocker film is good for 200 degrees before it starts to break down and melt. Lot closer with +/_ ten degrees difference and the fog light bulb is closer to the lense. We can also mention that most people are more likely to change the fog light bulb to a higher wattage. Which changes the parameters even more.

So with all that said if you are trying to say Blue bat film is better than headlight armor in some cases you are correct, but in most you are not.

Blue Bat Film
Good for only 176 degrees before adhesion breakdown
Film is only 7 mil thick
Wont contour and fit to complex and convex surfaces without relief cuts which takes away the look of the finish product
Will only last two summers at best in the heat of Arizona
Installs like window tint and your lights arent flat so it will be harder
Light clear coat on the film

RockBlocker film
Good for 200 degrees
Film is 20 mil thick - Almost 3 times of the other product we carry
Will contour, bend and mold a lot easier and very rarely has to have relief cuts in the film. Nothing on a Scion light at ALL
Since it bends and contours much easier to install
Clear coated and will hold up to the heat of AZ much longer

Yes we carry both products and they are good for their own uses. We recommend the thinner film for areas such as third brake lights and turn signals on the tC as well as the reverse light. We recommend RockBlocker for everything else.

As for the fog light in the picture the reason for it burning is whoever owns likes to sit in the parking lot with the car parked and fog lights on. Imagine what would happen with the thinner film???

Oh and one more thing there is a product called Stoner Tarminator that will take that glue right off the light. Thats if you remove it, why you would who knows.

1. prolly 2 weeks ago
2. i couldnt tell ya, but i think an honest guess would be 3 months
3. yes
4. its an eBay set up, so its the "factory" ones that came in it..

i never clamed to be knowledgeable i was just posting what i found removing my film, its also the reason i PMed you to read/ post in here

as for the parking lot comment - the tCs have auto on/off headlights which is the setting i leave my lights on, so they are on day/night, whenever im driving...

as for temp, im switching to HIDs this weekend, good or bad thing for the overlays?

an explanation for the pass side light coming out in a perfect broken circle? best i could think of is that it got hit by something, but i mean this was a PERFECT circle in the middle of the glass....

and yes, headlight armors film (which i imagine to be like Rock Blocker, correct me if im wrong) is easier to put on then Bats film, but with patiences (which i dont have) it isnt THAT bad.
