ok can some one that has ever painted before tell me how hard it actually is to paint a car ?
I want to paint mine to save on costs so that I can put some money towards a nice set of wheels. I have a few friends that said that they would help me that have went to school for it but have never worked in an actual shop so as far as their experience outside of school i dont know. I have some scratches on the car and just want to clean it up. I just want to have a clean car again and everything else is clean about it except my body. So after the turbo set up is in I want to paint it to just bring it back closer to how it was stock.

ok the way you put it, whats the catch ? I am a perfectionist and just like the clean look of things. I can get into a booth with nice equipment so that is not a problem. I can get all the materials to paint the car for around 400 all PPG products from a shop that my dads friend runs. Is it true that the key to a good paint job is the prep work ? and what about the molds and weather stripping ? FLEA I just want a clean paint job and will go to all measures to do it myself. I truly want a car that is 100 percent done by me.

its supposed to be NBM over a honda black but it looks more like purple and my car got hated on and it got keyed.
Plus it has fenders off of a black tc so it does not go with my honda black two tone.
Reason I got black fenders was because I got rid of my CF ones.

an d ^^ that is what it used to look like. I really want it to look like that again. even better, I miss my car sooooooo bad. kinda tempted in selling my turbo kit for a paint job and bring it back to stock but If i can do it myself than I can have it all.
What happened was last year I was driving to spokane and I was going around 70 mph merging onto a different high way. ( I have taken this exit many times at that speed.) well they had construction going on and no warning signs so i lost control and ripped the front bumper off the car and dented the rear and messed up the headlights. the car was not totaled though. It actually did not look bad at all. Well the insurance paid for paint and when I went to find someone to paint it I was referred to this guy that did show cars and what not so I met him and he seemed like a cool guy. ( lil jumpy) but the cars he had at his shop were top notch. well he painted it and after wards when I saw it I did not know what to think bout it. I did not like it. the car did not seem to fit well. So I told him my problem with it and he agreed to redo it all free of charge and do it a different color. well I got a job offer 7 hours form home and had to move immediately to get it so i did and we planned on redoing the car after this winter.
Well I tried calling him back plenty of times and so i decided to stop by his house and no one. Well I know the girl that lives next door to him and I went over their to talk to her bout him and she told me that he was featured on americas most wanted and took off to Mexico. Well that same day he was on the local news channel and he was the head of a mexican mafia and was running drugs out of his shop. so basically I am left with that. So what do you guys think ?

In your case the prep work is going to be the most important part of the entire paint job. Wet sand down the entire car with 800 grit. Don't wet sand the paint off, just the get the car to look like a dull finish...like below.
Next you're going to have to fill in those key marks with filler and sand them down until they're smooth. The areas that are being filled in will need primer over them and then need to be blocked off.
Mask off the car, begin spraying the door and hatch jambs first....if you intend to repaint those. Apply a light base coat first, followed by a couple more coats. Allow it to dry for a bit and then when the base coat is dry begin applying the clear coat. Light coat and first, dry, medium coat, dry, and lastly a wet coat.
Allow the entire car to dry completely. Color sand and buff.
