do you guys leave ur HID's on during the day too? or only use them at night?

ive sort of gotten lazy with my stock halogens and just leave the headlights in the 'on' position, since they auto turn off..just wondering if doing this will drain HID's real quick

i just put hid's in my 09 w/ projectors. they don't glare at all but I did have a problem with the tabs being too thick (h11). I had to file/grind the tabs a little smaller so they would fit in the housing properly

Just to let you all know I ran plug and play on my bike and it was fine. You have to point the lights down a little but the cut off it better than most other bikes even though its not projector.

I have a similar concern, hopefully someone can provide some insight...

I usually leave my headlights in the "ON" position and since they are turned off when the car is off and I open the door... they usually come back on when I start the car again the next morning (it's frickin' early and still dark out when I go to work)...

BUT my concern is when I turn the car back on... I notice that the (stock) headlights are dim as the motor is cranking over and starting... then they are nice and bright when the motor is up and running...

I'm planning to put in HID's in this week and I'm wondering if this "low power start up" is harmful or damaging to the ballasts or bulbs. Can anyone shed some light (lol) on this?

I don't think it is damaging (I could be wrong I'm no expert)
But I do know that because of the decrease in power upon cranking the engine, the ballasts may fail to ignite properly. The result may be that one light may not turn on... or both.
All you have to do is turn off the switch and turn it back on and you're all good.

Got them in last night (wow, they are BRIGHT) and they came on just fine this morning as I started my motor with the lights in the "ON" position...

I'm not sure if I'm gonna make it a habit of leaving them in the "ON" position... they do take a lot of juice to ignite them and it is noticeable how long they take to warm up to their full brightness.

I guess the relay harness is going to keep anything bad from happening, but it's better to be overcautious... I don't want to do anything to jeopardize my latest investment.

If they stop working in a few months, check the relay. Just a heads upso you don't go nutz trying to figure it out.
I had to replace my relay already. I checked fuses, connections, and everything... Then I thought of the relay and there it was. It's always the last place you look

Question: I got the 6000K kit and for some reason, they look like they have a very slight purple color to them. Is this normal? Will it change to the "correct" color over time?

Make sure they are 6000
8000 has a slight blue color to it.
6000 is suppose to be White White.
When they first start up they are a little different... maybe SOME blue, but not much.

The color may change and dim over time as they get older.

Most if not all non-name brands probably come from the same factory in China or the factory next door to it.
You'll get the same generic product packaged in different boxes.
Pick a seller with trusted and proven warranty service.
I have dealt with and recommend Mobile HID.

HAving problems with my6k mobilehids.

Pass side one likes to just turn off randomly when driving. Cliff sent me new ballasts. I only put the new one on the pass side bad one. Same problem still happens. What could this be???

The new ballast had the pass side one working great the first night I had them on. No random shutting off and good brightness.

Day 2, random turning off.

I'm definately no pro, but check the wiring.. perhaps the relay?-- malfunctioning relay. Possibly a bad connection

I'm not sure =/.

Update:

Its still shutting off randomly, plus, now its flickering just as it shuts off.

Seems pretty clear to me that the ballasts is draining power somehow. This is my second set and I think I'm just going to get my money back and return this MobileHID kit.

Very disappointed.

If 2 different ballasts are dying the same way then it has to be something else.
Check your wiring...make sure all connections are tight and that the ground wires are well grounded and making contact with bare metal.

I too had to return a ballast from MobileHID for a similar problem.
Haven't had problems with the new one.
These types of things are expected for a generic Chinese made product...I don't expect quality control to be that strict.
I would still recommend MobileHID because of Cliff's excellent customer service.
