Default Retrofitting Headlights

Instead of actually baking them, has anyone just cut them open and glued them back together, i know someone who's done this for a civic and a GTI, so has anyone tried this on a tC? Is there anything that would prevent this?

an act of god.

haha no im sorry, i would stick with baking them open unless you are skilled enough and confident enough to cut them open and reglue them.

ive only had expierence with baking (my old car) and have never heard of anything else.

just my two cents

There is no reason to be scared of baking them. I do not see any reason fit to cut open the headilhgts. baking them is faster and easier and its not hard to reseal them at all.

dude, bake it, you would be stupid to cut them. 15 min at 225 will be more then enough.

your light bulbs get to a higher tempurature than 225.

if plastic headlights melted at that temp id be worried.

umm very because your cutting open the plastic so the chances of you getting everything back to its orignal position would be nearly impossibly because that fraction of an inch might not seem like a lot but it may look funny on the car. Your oven will not smell like plastic and if it did it will go away very quickly. Your not gunna melt it or anything ppl go up to even 350 for 5-7 mins. Just were gloves when you pull them apart and before you stick them in remove anything thats removable such as screws and bulbs.
If your still skeptical put hte oven light on and grab a chair and watch it
