Default Running HID lowbeams and fog lights... Worth it?

Since HIDs illuminate a lot more of the road than normal incandescent blubs is it worthwhile to have fog lamps too? I intend to run a 6K HID kit. I already purchased an OEM fog light kit before I decided to get HID lowbeams. Will the HIDs light up enough of the road that the fog lights won't be worth the extra money?

Go crazy with it

more lights on the road can't be bad, unless your beam is high enough to blind people. I am actually doing a retrofit with HID, and I already have an aftermarket fog lights. Beside fog lights are more for style than lights output.

problem w/ the location of the fog lights is that they are realy low. your gain isnt gonna be worth the $ IMO. in order for them to be effictive and not blind people, there gonna be pointed at the ground. so if you want to use them in addition to your lows, meaning they will be on all the time, your gonna bet brighted.. also, the glare that is gonna come from them is gonna be harsh IMO.. in your case, i would go custom w/ some led's. make some led fogs like mine but in the stock location. i would do a barage of 3mm led's in a halo around them. using like 100 per side thus equaling a killer halo or somthing.. or just buy 4" led semi cluster backup lights so they will at least match the color of the HID lows and not blind anyone but still give you the fog light look.. as hid lows and halogen fogs color differnce is lame and i hate when i see that on the road. my buddy has a 330ci and just put in 9006 HID kit in his fogs. they are practilcy aimed at the ground. can check cardomain for those user id: ezebmw its crazy bright and not worth it IMO.. but if your dead set on it, then rock your world..

Well, I'll probably just try the fogs first. Not like it'll hurt. I'll just remove them and sell them if they don't loook good with teh HIDs. I just think the HIDs will be sufficient enough that i wont' need the fogs.

I appreciate your idea. I saw pics of your led thing. Its very creative. But it just isn't mean. I didn't like how it looked on the car. I need something that looks more OEM. Maybe with a lense that diffuses the light too

i've got hid's in the lowbeam and oem foglights on my car and i think its good. i personally like the contrast b/w the hid lows and the halogen fogs. it looks stock, like the prius and audi's on the road.. thats my opinion.

Cool, these are the posts I wanna hear. Happen to have pics? I'd be running a 6K HID kit. The fogs would be SilverStar 9006 bulbs.

the user eddnog is going to be my inspiration for my new foglight setup.

As it stands right now i have some PIAA driving lamps mounted in the lower center grille, but the light output is meh at best. I want to go get some hella micro de's and mount them in the side vents. Then i want to go get a 3000k H3 HID kit and stick it in the fogs. yellow HID fog's, woot!

Yeah, i seen his car at YSTC. I'm not a fan of putting fogs into those side inlets unless it was meant to fit there properly. I don't wanna drill any holes or cut anything. Just would want it to fit in there without an issue.

Back to the issue at hand....
Anyone out there running HID lowbeams with incadescent fogs? Post pics or voice your opinion if you have some knowledge with this.

let's see.. where to start.. ok

for cars with HID conversion kits... the glare will cause you to lose vision in Fog or heavy rain by reflecting lights back into your eyes (glare does not have to be ultra bright, glare is additional light projected to areas where it would not be if you used halogen lights)

next time it rains heavily, try turning on your high beams, youll see what i mean

more lights do not necessarily means better unless it's utilitize (bad spelling) correctly
